It certainly changed Hitler's.

Speaking of cars though...did I ever tell you how much I enjoy the Fast and Furious series?

If I recall correctly, uzique said he liked it when he was a kid and so did I.  Good old 90's.

Saving Private Ryan was not really trying to be "art", it was in a sense trying to re-imagine WW2 as it actually "happened" as opposed to how it was pictured in the popular imagination.  Spielburg went out of his way to make the combat as visceral and in-your-face as possible, instead of the black and white, corny John Wayne propaganda (think The Longest Day).  Like all his movies, it wasnt really trying to be challenging.  It was trying to fill in what used to be a blank space, a kind of "what was it really like" experience.  Don't tell me your weren't at all moved when that guy started having a nervous breakdown after the beach landing -- that was bold.
I might have actually been "moved" if the film was more theater and less leaning over my shoulder, pressing my face against the screen and shouting "LOOK AT THIS GORE HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SO MUCH GORE" into my ear. I was more "moved" by Clint Eastwood & co. going to war for themselves and a cache of Nazi gold in Kelly's Heroes.

"ARE YOU FEELING QUEASY YET? YOU AREN'T FEELING QUEASY? WHAT, ARE YOU CYNICAL? AT LEAST GIVE ME A "MURICA, FUCK YEAH!"

I enjoyed the scene where they pull that large safe with 2 cars, it was comedy gold. Here look I found the clip...

it's a good film because it's not just hollywood-puff and spielberg-schmaltz. it's based on a really good book.

80% of the story-telling work is pretty much done for him, there. all spielberg had to do was add the hollywood.

Pretty much what happens when you cross 80s Robocop with District 9, only this time Robocop doesn't take his helmet off.

The old one is Judge Dredd. The new one is Dredd. Modern remakes think they're being cute when they simplify a name like that. It's worse than sequels knocking off the numerical sequence and adding words like "Revolutions," "Revolting" and "Retarded."

3096 Tage/3096 Days

8/10

It's about the kidnapping of Natascha Kampusch, a 10-year old Austrian girl who was kidnapped and then held for 8 years before escaping from her captor. There's not a terrible amount of dialogue in the movie, but there most certainly doesn't need to be. Definitely a movie that should receive more attention from international audiences and since it was filmed in English, there's really no excuse.

I saw it in German, so I have no idea how the English acting is, though apparently the actress is a well-known and well-respected woman from Northern Ireland.

Still have to wait until April 19th before the German Bluray comes out. Never going to watch the German version, though, obviously. It's times like these that I hate living in Central Europe.
