I'd say that's poking your nose in a little too far, but it doesn't surprise me. Religious schools will often underhandedly discriminate against students for their faith. Let slip that a kid's a Mormon or a Catholic, and watch with a trollface as they're harassed on the playground.
Happened to my friend who's catholic when she attended school here in Taiwan (christian american school, best int'l school in the city). hardcore religious kids gave her a ton of shit.
Doesn't surprise me at all. Religious schools let that kind of peer pressure and harassment slip under the radar all the time. At least in non-denominational schools, they'll harass you for something relevant.

This the second time you criticized someones high and elementary school in the last week, RTHKI. Not sure if you are joking or are really that petty.

it's not simply geography. it's simply culture. geography implies that it's something inherent in the natural environment or nation that prescribes that religion. obviously it's not. there is no environmental determinism vis-a-vis religion. it's cultural. tbh if you were born to a certain class of families in the middle-east, you'd probably be christian (e.g. copts in egypt). it's all cultural force: from the family unit to peer-pressure. human geography, at a stretch. but otherwise that image is dumb in the extreme.

Blue and red is more Star Warsy. You have the light side and the dark side of the planet. Geographically.

I don't know of any polygamists on welfare.
Some regular Mormons, yes.
I'm sure it happens, but I do not know of any of my 34 siblings or 948 first cousins that are on government teat.
That would kind of like being taking blood money. They want neither your comforts or securities, we ( they )simply wish to be left alone.
Faith is not something that can be regulated, and true ladder days saints don't recognize the authority of the federal or state governments, so why the fuck would they take their poison money?

Try again.

I cringed today when a professor in a non philosophy class casually mentioned Nietzsche. He pronounced it nee-Chi. The proper way to pronounce it is Nee-Cha

And because I'm not going to undelete my old post but still feel it's relevant in regards to faith conduct (i.e., I've seen far too many Christians use their good works as a moral bludgeon with which to pound religious "debate" opponents into submission):

Sure, but when charity workers return to rub it in everyone else's faces, it kind of strikes down any social armor they might have gained from their "humble act."

Kind of surprised the Pope's resignation hasn't been brought up yet. Anyone got any thoughts about that? Personally I always thought the sooner this Pope moved on in whatever form the better. A backwards-thinking child rape covering-up unapologetic waste of space who proliferated idiocy like banning condoms, who was closed minded towards things like homosexuality and stem cell research as well as the concept of female priests. He even tip-toed around evolution more than his predecessor.

The Catholic Church needs a strong and progressive leader rather than another old man caught a couple of centuries in the past. Their main concern is still popularity of course and maintaining their followers. They're not going to do this if they remain as disconnected as they are.
