It's not this incident in isolation though is it. Half the time you seem completely unaware of things that are going on, and even worse directly relate to something that is being discussed, which you still seem to think you know enough about to join in.

While it is not in anyway a relevant piece of information pertaining to US History, you should have at least looked into it before asking a question. It only takes up a few minutes of your time and allows you to see the bigger picture.

This incident is more representative of a bigger problem with not only you, but many others when it comes to serious discussion. Taking in any information from authority or media figures(or anyone else for that matter) without any citations to back up their arguments and regurgitating it is one of the most irresponsible and stupid things you could do.

thinking for yourself is a strong analytical skill. being able to synthesize information from books with your own personal knowledge and experience is 'intelligence'. memorising by rote what someone else said, swallowing it unthinkingly, and then redressing it in your own glib and simple sentencing... is not intelligence. jay falls into the latter. he passes off other people's amazon bestsellers in precis and then feels smug about it. the other day he dropped a 4 paragraph (uncited) 'argument' about introverts and extroverts. he even got some karma for it. shame all the thinking was lifted directly from some poor schmuck lady that gave it as a TED Talk earlier in the year. dun dun dunnn. smart guise.
