Anyone know what could be wrong with my desktop?  When I first turn on the computer, it takes probably around 2-3 minutes for the computer to get through the mobo splash screen and start doing its usual boot up routine.  After booting up, the computer works completely normally, but it is kind of bothersome to turn on my computer, go use the bathroom, come back and still not have it ready to go.

2nded on removing USB storage stuff, there's a possibility it's trying to boot to it and taking forever.

Some shittier older BIOS versions do that, and some won't even try to boot from the hard drive if there's any kind of flash drive/external hard drive connected, my brother's comp was like that before he upgraded his mobo.  It just gets stuck at the blinking DOS cursor until it's restarted with no external storage device

is there a message to hit a button during this boot time?

Nothing new, the only thing attached is my external hard drive, though the computer used to boot just fine even with it attached.  Next time I boot up, I'll try without the external connected.

Check boot order in your bios settings. Make sure the first drive it tries to boot to has your OS.

My computer does this because the video card is dying

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade.

I suggested boot order because I remember seeing computers set to check the CD, floppy or USB first, only to have it take for fucking ever for it to discover that there's no OS on any of them.

It's sort of a blind guess, though. For all I know, his rig could be taking forever to check RAM.
