Ladies.

Recently, TalkTalk shat out a new router for us cause our old one was dying. I'm trying to set up the QoS, but tbh I've never done this shit before and there's a grand total of 0 guides for this particular router on Google. Can anyone give me a hand in what to stick in where?

Looks like you have to set priorities by port. Do you know how to do this?

An alternative, if you use uTorrent:

Or there's something else called cFosSpeed. I was looking this up the other day, funnily enough. I've not tried either, though.

I'm guessing that means prioritising each port by what each program uses?
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.

Well it's not just uTorrent, I'd also want to download stuff from Steam or just the interwebs, basically want any downloads not affecting my gaming.

Ken, that sounds like a shittonne of messing about.

In a futile attempt to get some QoS I googled "Huawei HG533 qos" and this is the first result

45 minutes on the phone to talktalk to get them to understand what I was after only to be told "we don't give support for anything other than default settings".

never ever ever buy a talktalk package, ever. Just don't do it.

edit: tri-post.

I've come to realise that ISP-given routers are always going to be bad. Always.

Get something solid with lots of options.

I'd love to get my hands on a USR9108. We use them for work and they seem pretty solid.

I'm not with Talk Talk, but Virgin don't "force" you to use their router, but you can set it to "Modem-mode", or something, so you can use your own stuff.

So basically, don't ever expect anything from an ISP router.
