Ok, I'm being a bit modest on her behalf. She's part of a couple song writing associations, one of them submitted her song overseas and another has put four songs into their finals where the winning song gets free recording time etc.

Fuckin nice eh, good luck hope it goes well. What instrument you play?

AmaySIM, lol. One of my mates has that, only gets reception in BNE city, and even then like 2/5 bars.
I play bass mainly though I've played guitar for longer. Going to move in with my gf, she's an amazing singer. To start with we're just going to do covers together and work on recording an EP (with band) of her best jazz songs she has written (she's written well over 100 songs, some are quite good).
Nice, I started playing bass, like 5 years ago or something. Moved onto Gtar.

What's your rig, I've been eyeing off a nice fender jazz at my local music shop. MIA though, so like 2500, being poor sucks.

Also do you know of a Martin dealer in BNE? I've been searching for like an 00 -15, or simillar..

I've got a MarkBass rig. LMII head with a 4x10" cabinet. Loud and clean and very lightweight to transport.
My bass is a Musicman Stingray 5. Have a bunch of pedals I use too.

MIA Jazz, nice one. Check out Sandberg basses too. You can't currently get them in Brisbane but I personally know the Australian dealer (he used to be our band manager) and he imports them from Germany, where they are made. Just today he asked me about my best mate who manages Ellaways in Kedron and asked about contacting him to see if they will stock Sandberg, so fingers crossed. I played one and they are amazing. A lot of the reviews I have read reckon that Sandberg do Fender better than Fender does . They price similar or cheaper than Fender too. Prince's bassist plays one, as well as the bassist from Rammstein (who the aforementioned guy is also their agent in Australia - he's German and used to work for Sony).

As for a Martin dealer, Guitar Brothers in Red Hill sell them - http://guitarbrothers.shop033.com/l/Cat … Id/2133149

Bit of everything that isn't heavy. Mainly jazz or blends of country (not twangy country), pop etc. She wrote a song about me when we met that's a Latin feel with some lyrics in French

Fair enough, Stingrays sure are popular, but I just don't like the 5 string. Stingray 4's are pretty sweet, tried one of those modulus 4's, with the (graphite?) neck. Pretty slick too. It'd be nice to get all this stuff, but just so damn expensive. Would love to get a new guitar rig, with like a Marshall Plexi, or maybe like a JCM800? I think that's what they're called. Must say though, I'm  a bit of a Fender Fanboy, have a MIM Squier bass, pretty sturdy. Really growly tone. Also grabbed a MIA Strat a few years back, pretty sweet, its my baby. Would love to smash that through a vintage Marshall rig, with some slick pedals, maybe like a Zvex Fuzz Factory.

Just need to have a cool 50 grand lying around

Yeah it's hell expensive. I think I might know a Fuzz Factory for sale, will have to ask first...

I also LOVE Mesa Boogie. They make the best amps IMO.

Plugged into a mate's Dual rectifier last year, didn't go well with the Strat, probs should have used like a Gibson, or anything with humbuckers. I've heard good things about their bass amps, never used though. gallien krueger sound pretty rad, I think Flea? used them a while back, real growly tone.

Yeah I think Flea uses GK as well as Justin Chancellor (my hero) from Tool (he uses GK heads with Mesa cabinets).

I'm not sure how a strat would go through a Mesa, could go either way. I think Gibson, PRS etc. sound amazing through them though. I played through a Mesa cab in Sydney about 18 months ago and it was probably the best sounding amp for rock I've ever played through, and I've played through a fair few Ampeg SVTs.

It didn't go well, lots of high pitched squealing and feedback

Probably just needed to turn the gain down to prevent that happening.

Do you know how feedback is created?

I did, then it was like, ok, but too clean, it was either all or nothing. Didn't like it.

I dunno man, like standing infront of speakers. I never did like electrical science.

Yeah it's just a loop that is created. Like when you point a microphone at a speaker, the sound goes into the mic, through the PA and out the speaker, into the mic, etc. That's what creates feedback. Guitars obviously can do it too. Like you say, some guitars are finicky with certain amps.

A Strat with Fender Twin or similar setup is a great sound, might be worth exploring that angle if you haven't already.

Never got into fender amps, Might look into it, gotta buy the marshall GK, and maybe a Vox first though. With the millions of dollars I have laying around in my specially designed music money room. Can always dream though

I knew I was forgetting something. Fender/Vox is a classic combination. Similar to how Gibson/Marshall is a classic sound.

Yeah they're great. They a bit weird with Gibson though, or at least with our guitarist's Gibson through any Orange amp he plays through. The overdrive just sounds a bit fuzzy or something. Strats sound great.

Adelaide - Hell yeah

Two killed in bike head-on had no helmets or lights at Lonsdale

Police said they believed the dead dirt bike riders - a Happy Valley man, 33, and a man, 24, of Aberfoyle Park - knew each other. The pair were riding unregistered, unroadworthy bikes, without helmets and with only miners' headlamps for illumination when riding at night.
They died at the scene after colliding about 12.45am when one rider did a hairpin turn off sealed Meyer Rd on to a dirt track while the other was attempting a similar turn from the dirt track.

"They were uninsured, they didn't have any lights, these men weren't wearing helmets and they chose to undertake dangerous riding practices.
"We believe they were acquaintances ... and we believe they were riding each other's bikes at the point of impact (and) we believe there was a premises where these men did exit just prior to the crash.
