SALINAS, Calif. – A 12-year-old California boy says he killed his dog because he wanted to see the terrier mix die.

The Salinas Californian says police officers found the 12-pound dog hanging by its collar on a bedroom door handle.

Investigators say the boy told officers he was mad at the dog and he wanted to see it die.

Dispatchers got a 911 emergency call Friday afternoon from a female caller saying the boy was hurting the dog. People in the boy's apartment refused to open the door when Salinas officers arrived, so they obtained a pass key.

The boy was arrested and taken to Monterey County Juvenile Hall for investigation of felony animal cruelty.

NEW YORK -- A New York City police officer accused of conspiring to kidnap, rape, torture and cook a number of women and eat their body parts has been arrested and charged in the case, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan said.
Gilberto Valle, 28, a six-year NYPD veteran, was arrested last Wednesday at his home in Queens. He is accused of illegally accessing a national crime database to locate potential targets, scouting some of them at their homes and workplaces and exchanging e-mails and instant messages with alleged co-conspirators about plans to target women, the attorney's office said.
"Gilberto Valle's alleged plans to kidnap women so that they could be raped, tortured, killed, cooked and cannibalized shock the conscience," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said. "This case is all the more disturbing when you consider Valle's position as a New York City police officer and his sworn duty to serve and protect. Our investigation is ongoing."

loads of people are fascinated with serial killers - it's one of the true old 'genres' of the internet. the internet especially fostered these weird 'true crime' communities that love reading, watching, and obsessing over serial killers and other twisted individuals. it's a pretty natural curiosity and fascination, i think. not exactly unusual to be interested in something that is so screwed up and deviating away from the standard social norms.

In this case I absolutely agree. The kid probably has some serious trama, and simply jailing him for a while may agrivate the issue.
