maybe change the ram to ocz?
maybe a better cooler (by your choice or ram i see that you want to overclock?) (zalman 9500 or big typhoon)?
maybe change the mobo to a dfi nf4 ultra (better oc'er?

you might want to wait for AM2 (it was released yesterday; plus there will be some very low powered ones (35/65 W; ie. very good oc'er)) / conroe

And sorry for n00b question but what is the AM2? A CPU?

the new socket for AMD; it uses ddr2 ram; no change in performance though (just for future upgrade maybe important)

if you want to watercool; it doesnt matter when you get it

To fill in a couple things:

For the motherboard, if you don't want to go to AM2 right now (I would normally wait for a couple revisions) and want your system the one that is in the PC that max and I have put together is fine, although for a bit better overclocking/tweakability I highly recommend the DFI nForce4 Ultra-D (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813136152) It is the board that I use and it is excellent, definitely a motherboard for the tweaker in all of us.

Also, to answer your watercooling question, if you do decide to watercool I would recommend asking for help at www.ocforums.com or www.xtremesystems.com, this is not to say that the help here isn't good, but isn't nearly as specialized as in the other forums with the wide range of tech knowledge.  My watercooling system I bought all of the parts individually and put it all together.  There are some kits out there, but for the most part (basically except for Swiftech's) they are overpriced and do not compare to even a good air cooling setup.

@ DrM, I would agree with the Raptor upgrade, but that would add a couple hundred dollars to the already $1100 PC which for the small bump in performance isn't really as worth it as having 2GB of memory or a faster processor.

yes dont go with dual raptors. the price/performance ratio is horrible. If you really want to spend more money put it towards an 7900gtx or x1900xt
