This is why I would import a hot hatch (or find one that was sold over there) if ever I lived in America, and show all the rednecks in their trucks a decent car.
Not really. Do you look at a hatchback and think anything besides 'starter car'? They're cheap to buy, cheap to fuel, and they're apparently kind of fun to drive, but would you rather transport your kids around in a hatchback coupe that feels light and flimsy or an SUV?west-phoenix-az wrote:

hatchback
Maybe back in the day they were considered poor people cars but nowadays hatchback vs sedan is a stylistic choice more than anything. The hatchback Sti is more expensive than the sedan model for instance.
So you'd rather swing the front seat forward to access the car seat in the back rather than just opening a door? I dunno, when I have kids I want a more solidly built vehicle, not one that turns into a pancake in a collision.DrunkFace wrote:

Feels light and flimsy is different to actually being light and flimsy. Most new cars from Europe have 5* Ncap ratings.
Better to feel light and be safe than feel like a tank, drive like a tank, and feel safe.

You can get 5 doors for pretty much every version. That's not a sticking point.Jay wrote:

Or I could just use the 2 doors at the back?
I'd rather have a 4-door truck than a SUVJay wrote:

Ok, fair enough. You still will never convince me to buy a hatchback. I'm 1.9m tall and the thought of squeezing into one doesn't appeal to me. The fact that almost all of my male friends are the same height as me doesn't work in their favor either.

A Golf is not small. A Twingo, or smart car or Up are small.
Also, love that golf.

One of my friends has one of these:
She likes it well enough, but she's also 1.5 m tall

lol you must not be able to afford an Escalade
But seriously Jay if you think hatchbacks are for poor people you are an ego-sensitive imbecile.

for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
Nah, I just don't view cars as anything more than utilitarian go from Point A to Point B vehicles ever since I wrecked my bike. I got the need for speed stuff beat out of me by the pavementPrivateVendetta wrote:

You buy an SUV for speed?

Why do Euros like hatchbacks so much? Could it be because your gas prices have been manipulated to such an outrageous extent that you care more about fuel prices than anything else when making your car decisions? You like hatchbacks because you're used to them, and they've been the dominant form of car transport since you were a kid, yes?Camm wrote:

No, but I also don't need a status symbol like an escalade. Besides, escalades are for poor people trying to look richPrivateVendetta wrote:

Why do you guys like Trucks so much? They make no sense. Yuo only have SUV's to protect you from other people in SUV's
