-ALL rifles (of any type of action) are used relatively infrequently, as a percentage of guns involved in crimes.

I didn't know people hunted with AR15s. I could have sworn they make smaller calibers that could be used in hunting situations that require a semiautomatic. I am fairly certain I was commenting on large calibers rifles and pistols and small calibers rifle. Oh and I'm in before you cleverly try to point out that there are larger calibers rifles in existence.

You can talk about how little they are used in crimes and this is nice but not a single non law enforcement American needs a 7.62 semiautomatic WASR with a 100 round magazine.

Because no one needs such a large caliber semiautomatic rifle. There is not a single reason anyone needs to be able to fire off a 100 7.62s without reloading. I don't care if they aren't used much in crime. Hell I want one. But I'm saying in principle no one needs that shit.

There is no real reason people need Ferraris, or Ford F150s in the city, or phones that play movies, or half the other things in society today. Just because you won't die without it, doesn't mean it should be illegal.

Same things have happened in other areas that were struck by hurricanes and natural disasters. New Orleans was a shithole to begin with. If something big happened in Western Sydney I'd doubt it'd be as calm as Brisbane.

This requires an A-category firearms liscence - the sort you need for hunting rifles, shotguns etc because technically it meets the requirements for that class. (no pistol grip, 7rd mag among others) It won't be hard to get hold of a 30rd magazine, and it won't be hard to saw off that shitty bar between the grip & stock - hey presto, you've just turned a "hunting" rifle into a military style rifle.

The Overland Park City Council on Monday approved an ordinance allowing legal gun owners to openly carry their weapons, if they are in holsters with the safety engaged.

The council passed the ordinance after the Kansas attorney general said cities may not completely prohibit open carry of a loaded firearm while on public property. Some Overland Park officials said they were concerned the city could be sued if it didn't allow open carry.

Gun owners will be allowed to carry weapons on sidewalks, parks and buildings that don't have signs prohibiting firearms. Business owners will be able to post signs refusing to allow guns in their businesses. Guns will not be allowed inside city-owned buildings.
