controversial in that it approaches some uncomfortable or unpleasant 'truths' though, i assume is the idealism behind the right to free speech. it's a right to criticize the powers that be and say something controversial that goes against the political and social status quo. free speech isn't enshrined so people can just say baseless, irrational, dumb shit. or to spread hate. like the laughable islam film. free speech is there to help the democratic spirit flourish - but democracy depends on rational, reasoned discourse. it depends on common intelligence. using free speech to defend dumb redneck racist hatred is not a noble endeavour.
Don't get me wrong. I believe in freedom of speech in the most liberal sense. I just don't like that people are acting like the president commited some act of tyranny when he said the film wasn't cool.
mooslims are the most butt hurt crybabies in the world.
What are you looking at dicknose
This guy...not so much a cry baby:

Gurkhas make marines look like effeminate girl guides.
Fuck Israel
Gurkha's have always been known as badasses.
I know some of the right wingers here read Fox and nothing (or little) else. But how hard is it to look past some of the downright absolutely stupid articles attacking Obama for something like this:

Should U.S. aid to Libya be suspended?
Yes, indefinitely 65.76%
Yes, until the Libyan government helps track down the U.S. Consulate attackers 25.44%
No, that would be an overreaction. The Libyan government is not to blame 8.8%
Well if you think the Muslims are the only ones to riot over stupid shit

i think the main difference is that japanese-chinese enmity doesn't end in diplomats being brutally killed.Macbeth wrote:

nice try, though, smart guy.
They didn't lynch him in front of the embassy. They set a building he was in on fire and he died of smoke inhalation. The Chinese are setting buildings on fire too. Just no diplomats have barricaded themselves into the ones the Chinese are dosing.
It is pretty simplistic to say the riots are just about the film. A lot of these unemployed, uneducated, and unmarried muslims have some some legit reasons to be upset at the U.S.
The protesters in the U.K. and AUS on the other hand..fuck them

After the location shoot wrapped, Dionne said she and others were brought in to dub lines. "They brought the actors in in post (production) and had them say specific words. Like 'Mohammed,' for example. It was isolated. It wasn't in context," she said. "They'd say 'Say Mohammed,' and they'd (the actors would) say 'Say Mohammed' why?" When the film was complete, it was no longer a desert adventure about a man named George but rather an anti-Islamic movie about Prophet Mohammed.
yeah if you watched the film voices are completely different.Spearhead wrote:

I don't think its racist to say "if you don't like the way we do things here, go back to where you came from".
Fuck Israel
Thing is most of the protesters are Australian born, if media reports are anything to go by.
Equally if they don't like living in a secular country there are plenty of muslim countries to migrate to.
Secular govt and society is essential to democracy, if they don't like democracy then screw them.

I think people should have a right to protest, no matter how absurd it may be to others. Though taking it to the extent they did is breaking the law, and they should be suitably punished.Dilbert_X wrote:

They're already going to be punished in accordance to the violence they committed. Fuckers also ruined my dinner plans tooJaekus wrote:
