Cuts in defense spending doesn't exactly make it easier to get into the military, one of my reasons for voting for Romney among other reasons is he'll increase defense spending.

He did have two half-assed wars to try and finish, and apart from interest looking at the graph spending is lower now than when he started, and on a downward trajectory.

Test standards don't get much more stringent at top colleges either, from what I've heard. Especially if your parents were known alumni.

Still have to pass an entry exam to get into colleges. Also, I homeschooled for one year (7th grade) and still had to pass the district's standards (which wasn't much more difficult than a quiz on tying your shoelaces). Maybe it varies from state to state, but I'm sure parents aren't the sole educational authority over homeschooled kids.

No its not, everything to the right of the hashed vertical bar is projected. He hasn't cut shit.

i think the point is that parents are hardly impartial and neutral exam invigilators, not that the entry standards are easy (which they probably very much are). what's to stop a parent just rigging the exam for their kids and giving them all the answers? who is there as a third-party during the exam to guarantee the fair-play of the candidate and the veracity of his/her results? unless your parents are like ivy league professors with a maverick streak, being home-schooled seems like a socially and educationally disastrous choice.

So its out of date, but presumably the projections are based on something?

And why are you complaining about military spending?

Aww, you gonna accuse me of being on welfare again while I was in the military? How cute and predictable.

It was a taxpayer funded easy ride to a free education - something you seem so keen to deny everyone else now - and which hardly fits with the 'John Galt neo-libertarian self-reliant socialism-hating superhero' persona you've tried so hard to create for yourself.

You claim to be a socialism hating libertarian who despises big government, welfare handouts and military spending - yet took a job with the govt in the military and a welfare handout when you could have been self-reliant and put yourself through college via a loan. Presumably it would have been a lot quicker for one thing.

Explain how that doesn't make you a hypocrite, a pussy and a leech.

I'm arguing with a guy whose life I wouldn't wish on my enemies... Why?

Dilbert, it really wouldn't have mattered what the job was when I was 19 years old. If there had been anybody else offering me a full time job and a way to pay for college without assuming a massive debt burden I would've taken it. It just so happened that the military offers both those things. Did I create the job? Did I create the policies which dictated we maintain a massively over-large military? No. Just like I wouldn't have created any job that I worked at that age. It was a job that people dictated needed to be done, like being a cop or a firefighter (whom I don't see you accusing of having workfare jobs). So criticize me all you want for taking a job that paid shitty wages, had long hours, and got me shot at. I earned the money I was paid, there was no handout.

Now seriously, this is the last post I'll ever write in response to anything you write so feel free to criticize me to your hearts content. I'm done defending myself against the two people voted 'Most likely to be a serial killer' by the internet. I know you're fucking miserable in your shitty life, but try not to inflict it on others. Eventually they'll get as tired of you as everyone else in your life and just ignore you. Ta.

Wait, so if I'm reading this correctly, Sean's (ie. War Man's) parents are preventing their homeschooled child from receiving a high school diploma - that they could essentially rig anyway so he can pass with flying colours - because he wants to join the military whilst a Democrat is president?

i've read every single thing he has ever published - including juvenalia and stuff you have to go to research archives to find - but i'm guessing the 'you' was a second-person plural.

I like how you made an impassioned argument about earning your military benefits but refuse to even acknowledge the pell grant money. I'm guessing you are deeply embarrassed by it to the point where you managed to convince yourself it never happened.
