Corrected your godawful thread title Camm. "RIP In Piece"? Really man, there are few ways you could have got that more wrong.
Neil Armstrong is an immortal. Interesting fellow too, it wouldn't be many who'd land on the moon and then keep saying that they'd prefer to be remembered for something more noteworthy. Definitely a humble man who knew he was being lauded with praise for the work of many. But I'm afraid it isn't every man who pilots a rocket and a lunar-lander to the surface of the moon. And yeah sure he fluffed his lines but he will always be the first man to step foot on another world. What he represents is incredible. To think, Armstrong made his first footprint just sixteen years after man reached what was thought to be another unattainable peak - Mount Everest. We won't see any similar feats until man steps onto Mars. If we manage to get there.
A huge figure. RIP.
At least we still have conspiracy-theorist-punching Buzz Aldrin. That guy's awesome. And Michael Collins who's a cooler dude than he's given credit for.

i think Collins deserves a ton of credit - to go all that distance, and be the man to stay in the orbiter? Armstrong stayed a class act, never tried to 'cash in'.Ty wrote:

when i was a boy, the lunar landing inspired me to learn about astronomy. it also sparked an interest in computers.

This guy was a true role model in so many ways. 13urnzz said it best, tbh.
