I have been monitoring the web sites used by EA to test the Special Forces expansion pack. I did this by setting up links on my website like below.

This is what I have observed. These are the 8 maps coming with the expansion.

The Iron Gator - MECSF vs SEAL
Mass Destruction - Spetz vs Chinsurgent
Night Flight - MECSF vs SAS
Ghost Town - Spetz vs SAS
Devil's Perch - MECSF vs SEAL
Warlord - MEInsurget vs SAS
Leviathan - MECSF vs SEAL
Surge - Chinsurgent vs Spetz

They are currently testing version:

£20 rrp for 8 maps wtf? we'll play them to death within 4 months and have to wait for the privellage of paying another 20 quid for some more fucking maps and different skins.

personally i think its going to be a let down...

and only 2-3 of the maps are proberly going to be any good...

im bored of bf2

they should bring in knife/pistol only servers just fo fun

me too im bored too. i played like nothing else since june I WANT A NEW GAME.
Call of Duty 2 is prob. my next buy (its not out in Europe yet @!#$@) and not boring special forces
i want something very diffrent from bf2 now though actualy i may like world of warcraft but the monthly payment stops me from buying it. and guild wars is not an option WoW is just too cool.

anyway screw special forces its not gonna be in my collection

Could "MEInsurget" be the Rebels you talk of. I don't know. That is just what they are called on the server.

SEAL are only against MEC Special Forces.. I think (knowing EA..) that we can't play the old maps with anything new - so a 8 map-addon and a kewl zipline should cost you 25 euros.. I don't think so.

But I'll buy it anyway

I won't play SEALs anyway, maybe Spetsnaz and Chinsurgents are gonna be my favorite team then. Looking forward to their shared maps!

I think this will be the actual ingame names:

MECSF = MEC Spec Ops
Spetz = Russian Spec Ops
SAS = British Special Air Service
SEAL = US Navy Spec Ops
Chinsurgent = Russian Rebels
MEInsurgent = Middle East Insurgents

My guess.

I wish they included Australian SAS as well.

EDIT - To above, SAS are british and Australian special force, only the british version is in the game though.

its not the fact we are all bored witht he maps we have,and adding 2 or 3 new ones wont make a difference.
ea should allow like all other games new maps added by players that have built them.
it would not be hard as in all games people out there make up there own maps and could send them in to ea to be verified and if ok add them, we could just then download the map add it and away we go, so really we could have heaps like call of duty and medal of honor etc.
instead of them thinking its a hack or not standard, just let us add em fro FREE.

Oh, and on the subject matter, I'm probably going to get it. I've seen the gameplay movies, looked at the site (http://www.eagames.com/official/battlef … s/home.jsp), and it looks pretty decent, I guess.

What else would a "Hardcore Gamer" with no life like me spend my $30 on?

Thanks a lot for the info Dakota!!! Personally, I'm hoping they release the rest of the BF1942 maps in this engine. I'll even take the BFV maps. I'm just not so fond of the maps with BF2. I'd like to see some terrain diversity as well. Of course, I'll still run out and by BF: Special Forces just like every other schmuck here (yes, if you're on this web site I'm assuming that you are die hard enough to buy the expansion no matter how much you protest otherwise)

Playing ghost reco maps in the rain was the best......

Uhm you can't just say SAS = KSK in Germany or something like that... they're both special Forces, but they are quite different...
As for SWAT... SWAT just means Special Weapons and Tactics... this is not a Name for only one uhm... "Organisation"... no... ah you know what I mean. GSG9 means Grenzschutzgruppe 9, which means like Boarder Guard Group 9

My 2 cents on Special Forces... hmm looks quite like a TO or CS clone... not really BF-ish

I didn't mean that SAS = KSK directly as I know each special forces unit is different to each other (could of worded it better i guess )

Yes I know what you mean, it was a quick look German SWAT teams and they came up, having done more research (as I had more time) it seams they are more a counter terrisom group (I could still be wrong, but hey only going by information that I found)

Back onto the original subjust of Special Forces from what I've seen I think it looks like it could be quite good but we won't really see until its released
