FIrst off ill get screens and benches after im done uploading them.  OK lets start, im playing FEAR today on my 2nd rig (3.2p4, x800 pro non oced , 1 gig ram)  and usually i get 30 fps.  Today i wanted to record stuff so i closed Mcafee and Spysweeper and some other background task and when i got in i was amazed.... 60 FPS increase!!! i got 90FPS on highsettings!.  I tried it with bf2 and i get 100.  just stays at 100 since its capped at 100.  BF2 was a +40 fps increase.  So try shutting down all the tasks u dont really need.

Hold on, I'm finding this a little difficult to get my head round.  What you're saying is that if you reduce the number of applications that take some processor time/energy/power, then the game you really want to play will benefit from increased processor time/energy/power?
