When im playing randomly the screen goes black and freezes and after a few seconds it comes back and is fine, but then this happens a pop up comes up behind my game and says

VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands

im gunna run disc clean up and defrag my computer

any other sugestions? please help, this is pissing me off!!!

None of the above suggestions are necessary the problem...The VPU Recover Utility is part of the ATI Catalyst Driver Set. It does that rather than forcing you to reboot your PC, althought its not perfect and sometimes needs a reset anyways.

I suggest first uninstalling the ATI Display driver, downloading the newest 6.4 version from ATI.com and install that. Reboot and try.

Disc Cleanup and Defragging with have NO impact what so ever on your issue.

What Processor/Motherboard/Amount of RAM/Model of Graphics Card do you have?

I dont know my mobo, but i have 1024MB ram, dont know the kind though, and i think my graphics card is a radeon x900 or 800. im trying to get the x1600 but my dad says my graphics card is good enough... any sugestions....
