My uncle's gonna sell me his SxS double barrel 12 gauge for $100 but he says one of the barrels doesn't always fire, what would cause this and how much would it be to get an armorer or shop to fix it? It's an internal hammer, double-trigger model and it's made by Boito in Brazil, if the website is correct it's pretty much exactly the same as a Stoeger Uplander since Stoeger and Boito are owned by the same company. This is a much older one though so it doesn't have the "removable firing pin bushing" they mention in the catalogs. My uncle probably bought it in the 70s or early 80s from K-Mart

Might be as simple as a good detail cleaning by a gunsmith that can put it back together after disassembling it.

find a diagram online showing all the parts
Figure out how to take it apart
Take photos as you go, so you know how the parts went together and in what order
Give it a good cleaning and inspection along the way
if you still cant figure it out take it to a gunsmith

maybe you aren't using big enough shells. get yerself a box of 3.5" slugs(ignore the shell length markings on the barrel, that's just the recommendation for woman). Now, you may need a hammer to get that shell all the way in, that's ok, just be sure to use something with a soft face, we don't want any horrible accidents. Once you're loaded up, all you need is an old frigerator or washing machine to shoot at. fuck yeah. If that don't fix it, I'd just throw it in a creek.

Don't actually do any of that, except for the shooting of old appliances. fuck yeah.

for serious business I load a 20 gauge shell before the 12 gauge. it's like super effective.

Take 3" magnum round.
Remove shot and wad.
Pour in hot wax to brim and leave to cool.
Test in your fathers favourite duck gun.

(I have no idea what the effect will be, but I'd like to see someone try it.)
