oh no, I have been shooting shotguns safely since I was 12 but on an internet forum I couldn't asked to type "cartridge" so I went with the simpler bullet. I'm not qualified to own a shotgun for home defense.

Why the fuck do you keep bringing that up, are you mentally retarded? Do you know what the chances are of this house being broken into? I'm going skeet shooting, destroying any old TVs I can find (CRTs are like $20 on craiglist ) and destroying rocks with slugs.
Shotgun ammunition can get too expensive to simply play with. Either practice with it or sink your cash into something more productive.

So basically Sh1fty wants a cheap military-style shotgun so he can feel badass blowing up junk, and no doubt sit in his armchair in the dark with the back door open hoping for an intruder.

Sounds like someone who doesn't need a shotgun.

For that you need a 360 degree backstop, and a couple of miles danger area for the stuff which sails over the backstop.

the only reason I own firearms is to wreck shit at long range! I love to shoot and it's more fun to shoot at shit that breaks into pieces. I don't hunt at all because cows, chickens and pigs taste better than wild game.

Generally.
I've seen a couple examples of poor quality control recently.
One, the chamber was not finish cut, so you couldn't close the bolt to chamber a round.

Though, excepting the odd screwup, CZ makes a decent firearms.
I'd buy a CZ long before I'd buy a FreedomGroup firearm (DPMS, BushMaster, Remington, etc).
Freedom Group companies make the cheapest Chinese imports look high quality.
They are interested in stock dividends - not their customers, not their products, not their employees.

For anything factory built (non-custom), recently I've only looked at FN, Browning (hipower), Winchester (M70 Classic), Benelli (M4/M1014), Beretta (M9), or Sig (P226 series)
(FN manufactures the new Browning and Winchester firearms)

So, can you print a gun? Yep, you can and that’s exactly what somebody with the alias “HaveBlue” did.

To be accurate, HaveBlue didn’t print an entire gun, he printed a “receiver” for an AR-15 (better known as the military’s M16) at a cost of about $30 worth of materials.

The receiver is, in effect, the framework of a gun and holds the barrel and all of the other parts in place. It’s also the part of the gun that is technically, according to US law, the actual gun and carries the serial number.

When the weapon was assembled with the printed receiver HaveBlue reported he fired 200 rounds and it operated perfectly.

HaveBlue uploaded his digital model to several 3D model archives and at least one, Makerbot, has since banned gun designs but has allowed HaveBlue’s receiver model to remain in their Thingiverse 3D object archive.

Technically perfectly legal to manufacture a firearm for personal use, as long as you are legally allowed to own that firearm.
(last time I checked)

You cannot sell it,
you cannot loan it out,
you cannot make it fully auto (without the appropriate manufacturer's licensing),
you cannot make it suppressed (without the appropriate ATF form and tax stamp),
and the ATF highly prefers that you put your name, address, and a unique serial number on the firearm.

cncguns.com, and silencertalk.com for blueprints, CAD models, and general discussion of design and "how not to piss off the ATF".

As I've said before, anyone with first year mechanical engineering education and access to a small machine shop can build an unregistered machinegun.
Law abiding, responsible people aren't going to commit a felony "just for fun" though.

Hint: you REALLY don't want to piss off the US ATF.
They can make a visit from your ex-wife's lawyer and a prison proctologist seem pleasant by comparison.
If the ATF is unhappy with you, they can start handing out felony charges like presents at Christmas.

For an AR-15, the upper & lower receiver aren't under any significant pressures or stresses.
The only dangerously stressed parts in that rifle design are the barrel, bolt, bolt carrier, gas tube, and gas block/front sight assembly.
With the exception of the springs, heat shield, and trigger, the rest of the parts (other than those mentioned above) are plastic or aluminum.

If you want an even simpler design, there are at least two designs I can think of off the top of my head that are stupid simple to manufacture, as compared to the moderately detailed machining of an AR-15 or M-4

In the most literal sense of "cottage industry"

Part of the real genius of the AK design is the ease of manufacture, and the tolerance for abuse in the design.
It was designed to be used by poorly trained conscripts, reliable in filthy conditions, and assembled by uncaring drunken Soviet factory workers in primitive (or wartime) conditions.

Working within those criteria takes an exceptionally talented weapons designer.

Stamped steel, punch presses, and very few skilled lathe operations for the barrel area.

Links should still break apart unless they use cloth to hold them together or something.

I'm not really sure, but it looks like he strips some kind of ribbon from it at the end. Maybe that holds them together?
