Well, guess that isn't so bad.

It really helps the abuse of people just respawning like mad to get near cherno or elektro. On a side note, should my guy be ok even though I haven't played in 4 weeks and won't be able to play until the 8th?
mine was fine and i havent played for that longiceman785 wrote:

why does that need helping? nobody wants to spawn in bumfuck nowhere, that isn't fun at all.iceman785 wrote:

It was being heavily abused, and I'm sure that's not how rocket intended it to be. It doesn't take long to run from kamenkha to cherno, or you could just go straight north when you respawn.
Regardless of his intention, having every single survivor's story be that they washed ashore with next to no survival gear during a zombie apocalypse, when it is obviously weeks/months after the fact, is pretty ludicrous in and of itself.iceman785 wrote:

I don't necessarily think people should be able to simply spawn in on their friends when they start a new survivor, but it would make perfect sense to me if you could choose to spawn in (the vicinity of) most of the towns. If people could just start off more inland it would increase activity in the northern regions (those familiar with and already well-established up there would get a lot of kills...), and free the southern cities and coast up a little bit, making exploration more feasible with a little less chance of PvP than at present. Now it seems like it's the far north, the far south/coast, and emptiness in between...I would think that spreading activity out over more of the map might be a good thing.
It would also make it easier to group up with friends - this is, after all, a game. While the difficulty itself is part of what makes DayZ so fun, some minor concessions - such as making it a little easier for groups of players to meet up - would go a long way to promote growth and a fun experience, without compromising the overall difficulty/atmosphere.
Meeting up isn't too difficult, but they should implement a revive tool.
It really destroys a party if 1 member dies, because you all have to go out of your way to get their gear and you need to pick him up again, which is always at the coast so if youre at nwa for example its a real pain.

make defibs a lootable item, make them as rare as the DPM camo (not ghille) and then you can revive friends but it takes 1 minute to revive.
thats slightly less gay but still pretty gay since hackers are just going to hack them so everyone is going to have them

yeah lets not make progress because of hackers. ive encountered a few but its not at epidemic levels really. i think if you don't put in a new item because a hacker might get it you're letting them win.
i dont think adding something like that is progress
it just babies the players and eventually noone is going to care if they die because they can just get right back up. You only need to find one and youre going to find one

I actually met someone who didn't dry to immediately bludgeon me! I was up in the hills scouting out a few places from the treeline. Saw a guy approaching so went to ground. Too late though, he'd seen me. I had just started and I had absolutely nothing so I just put my hands on my head and waited for him to axe me. But he didn't, he asked if I 'was a good guy' to which I said 'I don't kill other survivors if that's what you mean.' Apparently neither did he. Zombie apocalypse bromance! So we went around following some of the back roads, getting a few supplies, taking out a few zombies and having a good old time. Then he broke his leg as we were approaching a village. There were quite a few zombies around too but we managed to fend them off. We started following a road but progress was ridiculously slow. I told him to keep following the road and I'd scout ahead to see if I could find anything. Made it as far as a sizeable settlement that looked promising for medical supplies but then I got kicked from the server. Couldn't tell you why.
So that was a shame, but it was still good to get an allegiance going. If any of you runs into a bloke called AtomicKilo don't kill him, he's a good dude.

Defibs would take too much of the sting out of dying. If you could choose to spawn in the more significant towns up to about Zeleno or Stary, you could still meet up in 20 min or less (often more like 5-10), unless your party was extremely far out in the sticks. Somewhere between a defib model and the current coastal spawning, there is a compromise that I think would be better than the status quo.

We're just jaded. If you have good gear and come across someone with shit gear, and you don't kill them, they will kill you for the gear.RTHKI wrote:

for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
am I the only one here who thinks it shouldn't be easy to get back to your corpse after you die?

yes, it was fine the way it was before getting rid of respawn. That way the person who killed you had plenty of time to get what they wanted from your corpse and you still had enough time to get back before the corpse despawned, and the killer could be miles off.Miggle wrote:

Apparently the reason for getting rid of respawn was because the constant respawning to get where you wanted to go was causing massive stress on servers, which caused lag for everyone.
Fixing a problem by removing a feature, fuck yeah Rocket.
