and my point is that no, youre wrong and explained why and you reply with some tangents about 7-11 and not being armed.

I think there are negative cases where someone was killed because their shotgun was too loud so someone else shot them first

yeah?

That "easy path" would've been hitting the local 7-11 or bank, instead of my house.
Or stealing my car, instead of breaking into my house.

If they broke into my house instead, they're after something other than cash, probably.

The point was that the sound of a pump shotgun is more likely to cause the wielder problems rather than scare off an intruder.
Except during most home invasion, the perpetrators demand cash and drugs.

A pump shotgun acts in the same way that a burglar alarm does. If the alarm goes off the people robbing your house will probably flee at the first note. The only people that have to worry about home invasions are generally people who have it coming i.e. they are in the drug business or something. Normal people don't have their home broken into with the intent being the death of the owners or kidnapping or something. To state otherwise is just delusional. "I need this gun because of the one in ten billion chance that my home will be broken into, my wife will be raped, and I will be murdered, all unprovoked."

No, there are two barrels. They are each loaded individually.

No I'm not. You proved it yourself when you said that most home invaders are after cash and drugs. Who keeps cash at home besides people that can't deposit it in a bank?

Bully for him. But did he really have to pump his neighbors' homes full of lead?

People tend to ignore the statistics and buy a gun when it happens in or near their neighborhood...

Does putting The Club on your car prevent it from getting stolen? No. But if there's a line of cars and 7 out of 10 of them have it, it's the other three that will be stolen.

So was 11B.

Has more to do with the number of police officers I know, and SWAT trainers specifically.

Could be just a dumb kid burglar, looking for spare change for his meth habit - or a starving homeless guy.
A shotgun pointed at the back of their head (outside of hand to hand range) and a low, firm, calm "turn around slowly" has a good chance of a non-shooting resolution.

Could be a non-violent criminal, but why would you tip your hand by racking your shotgun?

As Jay said, unless you are at risk (police officer or family of same also), your odds of a home invasion warrant about the same planning level as your "getting hit by lightning" plan. But, if you have a firearm in the house, and you grab it "just in case" when shit goes bump in the night - you may want a plan for using it responsibly. Same goes with the HAM radio operators putting antennae up in the rain, with the lightning plan.

Ahh, well, if a neighbor has been targeted, the likelihood of another break-in in the neighborhood rises dramatically.

We had six burglaries in my county recently.

All six were by the same guy.
Hit churches, schools, and a cafe after business hours.
As 11B said, he hit the path of least resistance.
Only safe places to break into here are churches and schools - everywhere else, people have a high chance of being armed...

Worst story I've heard was a guy went trigger happy in the general direction of a burgler in his home.
Heard something moving in the closet, opened the closet, fired every bullet he had in the pistol into the closet.
Shot his 4 year old daughter, who was up getting a drink of water or using the bathroom, got scared and hid in the closet.
Her last words were, supposedly, "Daddy, I love you".

Know what the fuck you're shooting at, and where every round is going to end up.
Before you pull the trigger.
