.410 is pretty useless past 'gun-in-face' range.

If you really want a .410 in a lightweight package with a short barrel, sure.
I don't know why you would want one, except for the novelty factor (or snakes maybe).

1) Novelty factor, poss. snakes (mostly if I go walking around eastern WA) and range fun.
2) Self-defense that isn't too heavy and doesn't have a lot of penetrative power.

I don't know, those shots looked satisfactory to me from that vid. I'm not expecting a tight pattern from a shotgun pistol. I already have a 9mm semi and .45 semi, as well as a .45 revolver and a couple .38 revolvers.

Warranty's supposed to be pretty good, so w/e. I'm not sold yet, but it looks fun.

I'm not so interested in the warranty as not having my face blown off.

Using it with .45 LC wouldn't be too bad for self-defense, but .410 should be relegated to snake slaying.

At pistol defensive ranges, I'm not sure I understand the usefulness of a .410 shotgun round.

If the ATF would allow a 12 gauge pistol, sure... but that's a no-no here in the US.

Not that much paperwork for an AOW.

What, are you saying it's going to decay in a week and mysteriously go grenade in my face? The polymer parts won't rust, dent and will keep the gun light enough to carry around more often.

PUBLIC DEFENDER POLYMER .410 GA. 2.5" / .45 LC REVOLVER

I know right off it's going to have a bit of a kick because of its low weight, but that's never bothered me before.

I believe the company that made them are out of business now.  Fun gun.

It patterned very wide and I'd probably only use it as a "sitting in my car & someone runs up to the window".   Other than that, I'd load it with 45 long.

I wouldn't trust a plastic part as a pressure bearing component - which a revolver frame is.

Why? Glocks are a doddle to shoot.

I doubt thats a wise choice for a self-defense cartridge.

1) From what I've seen, polymer guns are usually formed around a steel skeleton, so the "pressure-bearing components" should still be steel-to-steel. Still, I look over weapons before I purchase them. There's generally been positive feedback on the Judges despite criticism of the .410.

2) Still, a thousand rounds...yeesh.

3) You could always mix and match what you load it with, though I'm more interested in the .410's.

A sub frame would make sense, so really its not 'polymer framed'.

As far as compact revolvers go, I'd opt for this:

That looks painful to shoot.

@DX

Meh... I think the .45 Colt has been tried and a true round... But really I think the Winchester's PDX1 would be the best bet.

I'm thinking about buying this tomorrow, I've been planning to for a while. I've done some skeet shooting with it, because my friends owns one. He says it's great and he hasn't had any problems with it, and I really enjoyed using it. Shells eject underneath by the way.

So to all you pros out there, do you think this is a good deal and/or a good weapon?

I'm a big fan of small hammerless revolvers and have a couple .38's in that form. Still, all-metal can get heavy after awhile.

The barrel is short for skeet shooting, and the sights are overkill, but it will still work OK.
