I'm 40, work a government job and still love gaming. The average age of the 60+ members of my clan is 35 years old. We have members from 15 to 58. My first video game was a technological marvel of the mid 70's called PONG. A little dot bounced back and foth across the TV screen. For it's time it was state of the art. I would have never imagined back then the progress that would be made over the next 30 years.

- if u r over 19 and still play video games u need to get a life
Thanks, Ilocano. Yeah, I've been trying to get as much game on as I can. My wife doesn't quite understand my fascination with BF2. Oh well. As long as she lets me play I'm good. But I figured that my game time will go down significantly after the baby. Good luck to you.Ilocano wrote:
Congrats on you being a dad-to-be. The first year though will put a damper on your gaming. Instead of red-eyes from lack of sleep due to gaming, it'll be the attention time you spend with your daughter at 12am, 2am, and 4am in the morning. I've been through it twice. And to think, I still want a daughter.[zulu]steviep831 wrote:
I have a great life, a beautiful wife and a baby girl on the way. I love to play video games. There is no better way to unwind after a long hard day at work then to blow something up in BF2. It's fun. It doesn't matter what age you are.Sgt.Gene wrote:

LOL. You were playing SMB when you were born!? You're good.... Yeah us oldtimers remember SMB.... but darn was that music annoying after the first 5 minutes!!!!Dogfood Enforcer wrote:
im 22 and still play games. i dont give a sh*t what anyone thinks. Most ppl i know play them as well. its just the day and age we live in.
sh*t i remember Super Mario Brothers and how crazy i thought that game was back in 1984.lol. now look at what there is to play. its no surprise the age of gamers is older than it used to be. mature games have brought a lot of ppl who had F-ed off video games back into the scene.lol
SMB for the commodore 64 was even funnier....
I have a life, a wife, a job (techy now, but be a qualified BSc Software Engineer in 3 months), other hobbies (music and design), my own flat, real life friends, and a future. But computers have nearly ruined my life on numerous occasions and I had very poor attendance and punctuality at school because I was up until 5 am every night playing games (without my parents knowledge of course). In this regard, most people over 19 have learned to balance games and life, and the ones who don't die lonely.
I cannot believe this thread is still alive. Whatever, over 19 people Rule the world. And under 19 people will one day rule the world. Who cares if you play video games at whatever age. Look at it as practice for ruling the world. Muhahahaha.
Dude, i'll be 19 in a month or so. Fuck that. And, yes, I have a life. You have to learn to do shit in moderation. Thats how I can go to class every day, Get my homework done, spend time with my gf, and hang out and party with my friends. Those things are all things i like to/have to do and I manage to do them all and still find time to play BF2.

No, Keep in mind those of us who are 30-40-50 grew up on video games,
its no uncommon for people this age to play..
of course we play less then we used to because we have JOBS.
The people who are sad, are those who play 6-7-8++ hours per day..
Thats just friggin sad as hell.. No matter what age they are, they need
to get a life.. And to make it worse, morons here in this forum glorify
them and watch their stats as if they are GODS or something. Those people
need to get a life too..

I remember in fifth grade I was asked to front the display at the tech expo at the Launceston Silverdome.
I was displaying the latest in technological gadgetry, Turtle! Turtle was a small triangle who you could send around the screen by entering such commands as F15, L90, F25 (F=forward, L=left). It was a smash hit.
I remember loading up bmx on the tape drive of a friends commodore and going out to ride our bikes for an hour while the damn thing started up.
I remember my Vectrex, and games like 'Fortress of Nazaroth", "Scramble" and "Spike". Each game for the Vectrex came with a single plastic screen that would clip on over the top of the monitor so you could play in colour.
I remember cannon fodder, syndicate and speedball deluxe 2.
I grew up with computer games. The reason that the games are so violent and contain adult themes these days is because they are being built by people in my age group for gamers of my age.
Hi, I'm 29 and married, own my own house and am a bank manager.
When I grow up I want to rent my own server with a minimum age/IQ limit.
Little bitches.

rofl @ strangerdanger - I like the server idea.
30 here, married with 2 boys (8 and 5), livin it up in Hawaii (and unfortunately paying the gas prices, and dealing with high ping), and paying off my own home as well.
I work 2 jobs so I only have time to play from 1130 till about 2am ... I'd much rather play earlier and knock off earlier though ... but alas, gotta work!

I had an Atari in 1979, the only shooting i could do was place a white cross, on a moving white box, that appeared from one side of the screen and moved quickly to the other side....
Now look what games are like, personally im looking forward to at least another 25 years of gaming.
Best thing about being an older gamer, you can afford the better systems

I'm 28 and I play videogames still. I don't find anything wrong with it. Although, the peeps who are middle aged and still living with their parents is probably a little.....odd.
This is like the 4th dead topic revived today.
Actually, the video game market was designed to target players between 16-30. Do some research next time. On top of that, who says I can't party? I'm 16, I manage a clan in Counter-Strike 1.6 in CAL and TWL, AND I still go out and party. Infact, I was just at one last Friday, and there is ANOTHER one next (not this weeks) Friday. So I think you need to reconsider many of your statements regarding the matter.Sgt.Gene wrote:

No use man. He got reset anyway, shows you what kind of a "life" he has.TheCanadianTerrorist wrote:

Im 15... but i have no life, maybe after the BF2142 comes out i will only be a casual gamer... (hopefully)
Lucky bastard!! You're going to have the world cup going on in your backyard. I wish I could be there and cheer on my Argentina. As for the topic on hand. I think it's just a stress reliever and another way to have a good time with your mates. I'm 27, I go to university, hold down a full time job and train 6 days a week with my coach. I've a great bunch of friends to hang out with and talk to. So if that's a definition of a"lame life," then I don't want to know what your life is like.wohlfeil wrote:
okidoke - I`m the senior in this forum with 35 years. In my normal life I work as a radio DJ - and believe me - it`s more boring than BF2 : ))
And I find it very cool if guys like my father (60years) still keep the inner child alive and play....
why not???
the average german watches 3h TV each day - I don`t watch I ´m playing - exeption: soccer and news!
But sometimes I feel old in BF2 - when I´m commander and I have Squadleaders in the middle of puberty with very high voices : )) But they accept every order - if you have a very deep voice - like their fathers : )
Everyone has their own way to alleviate stress or just kick back. Video games aren't a realm that's specifically populated by 15 year olds. Many adults play them when the time allows and it's simply another forum through which to be entertained. Nothing more nothing less. To say that "if you're over 19 and play video games you need to get a life," is an extremely narrow point of view not to mention a huge generalization. Hell...Robin Williams plays Battlefield 2. I think he's got a good life.
