Checked my two plans. DMO versus PPO. I've had DMO for years. Should have checked what the PPO offered. Would have been 80% coverage for the procedure. Now have to wait for next year to change the plan.

As for reason for the chipping, I'm a carnivore. Love to chew on bones for the marrow. And cartilage for the snap for some reason???/confused.

when my company changed dental plans last year they only offered PPO through Cigna. Fortunately the coverage under the new plan is waaay better than my previous plan. My last root canal under my old plan was around $800 if I recall. Seriously considering replacing the crown with a full replacement, but that comes entirely out of pocket at a cost of ~$4k

There was a period where my coverage sucked and couldn't find a good dentist. All I needed was light scaling (which was fully covered), but the dentist (two different offices), kept pushing for full scaling, which my insurance didn't cover. They didn't want to do light scaling. So, I ended not having any cleaning for at least two years. As noted above by Superior, dentistry is big business. More so because costs aren't regulated like medical.
