It's not just over feeding. It's force feeding. They shove a tube down their throats and dump a corn mix into their stomachs. I don't have feelings either way about it. Never eaten foie gras.

What's stupid is that this type of animal cruelty is addressed while most other cases are ignored. Killing and eating animals is a natural right and completely moral, but only when those animals are either hunted from the wild or raised with love and care in domestic captivity.

I'm generally a proponent of more humane living conditions for animals specifically bred and kept for slaughter. However I think a ban on force-feeding ducks and geese is retarded. It's that hypocrisy which makes it stupid. It should be banned along with those other cruel practices, but of course, peeps don't give a shit about suffering of living beings unless it's blatant and in their face.

I'm curious, did they ban the food outright or just the practice of gavage? You can produce foie gras with natural feeding, also.
