You don't define a clear cut case of breaking and entering, just like you don't define a clear cut case of rape. It's a matter of consent, and estabilishing consent is always a matter of credibility, and never irrefutable.
That is just really stupid. Amazingly stupid.
Sure, if you don't think about it for more than two seconds Edit: at all.

It's total nonsense. That is all there is to it. There are clear cut cases of rape and robbery. You can't obfuscate the mechanics of a rape by arguing the credibility of the denial of consent.

Bull fucking shit.

DNA tests used before trial have exonerated at least 5000 prime suspects out of the first 18,000 DNA suspect samples at the FBI and other crime labs-suggesting a pre-trial error rate of more than 25 percent. Since 1977, some 553 people have been executed in the United States while another eighty death row inmates have been released after they were found innocent. For every seven executed, one innocent person is freed-an “error rate” of more than twelve (12) percent. In the State of Illinois, 12 people have been executed since 1977 while 13 have been released after proving their innocence-an error rate of 52 percent.
http://www.caught.net/innoc.htm

The United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, admits that statistically 8% to 12% of all state prisoners are either actually or factually innocent.
http://www.truthandjusticedenied.com/Wr … atist.html

at least 123 people have been wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death since 1977
Since 1973, 138 death-row prisoners have been released because they were innocent. In addition, at least ten people have been executed since 1976 even though they were probably innocent
https://www.aclu.org/capital-punishment … enalty-101

I don't care how certain you are or what crime someone committed, capital punishment is not the answer.
I didn't realize how high the rate of error was.

If there was a way to prove a person was guilty of murder, with 100% certainty in a perfect world, wouldn't you agree they should be executed? Why should a person be able to continue to live after ending somebody else's life.

We're talking about law, Macbeth, not your personal, subjective interpretation of a crime. You can't obfuscate the mechanics of law by arguing that you personally feel that something is indisputable.

There isn't any way to prove anything with 100% certaintly, DNA can be planted for a start. For every murder half a dozen crazy people will have phoned up claiming to have done it, ask a Police officer on a murder squad.

The courts don't typically require 100% certainty, just 'beyond reasonable doubt'. To be executing people on that basis proves your judicial system is level with that of the Taliban.

Yes but I wasn't realistically speaking. I wasn't asking about certainty I was talking about the death penalty.

Ok let me put it this way smartass.

If a person kills another, do you believe the individual who committed the murder has a right to live after he ended another person's life?

Right well capital punishment is an attempt to put that in place. Apparently I was wrong that many people are falsely accursed of murdering somebody, and many of which are found guilty. So that part sucks but I still think people like the guy who killed 77 in Norway should have just been shot in each joint and slowly boiled alive. We shouldn't be spending thousands of dollars on these sick fucks.

I might be required to do so. I don't see how being required to kill for one's country is the same as some dick killing unarmed children. Trollbert, or derpbert, pick your poison

Was going to pick you up on this but its moot really. Executioners, soldiers etc are going to have a pretty high turn over rate.

Pretty much for all of them, as long as all affected parties capable of informed adult consent are willing.

Birth Control - No problem with it.

Divorce - if two people no longer love each other, I don't see why not.

Gambling - I don't do it myself, but I don't see that it should be illegal...controls, and addiction prevention & treatment are definitely needed.

Animal fur clothing - I don't own any furs myself, but piss off you stupid hippies.

Stem cell research - No problem with it.

Death penalty - Barbaric.  Humans don't always get it (judgement) right.

Sex between unmarried - I don't have a problem with it.

Medical testing on animals - Not sure...should be avoided if possible, but its sometimes necessary.

Gay or Lesbian - Don't have a problem with it.

Baby outside of marriage - Don't have a problem with it.

Doctor assisted suicide - Difficult one.  Only for people who are suffering greatly (physically) and can't be treated, only if they're not pressured etc...

Abortion - I don't have a problem with it, within reason.  Aborting 8-month old kids just isn't cool.

Cloning animals - I don't have a problem with it, but cloning should be subject to strict controls.  In particular, we shouldn't contaminate the "natural" gene pool.

Pornography - I don't have a problem with it.

Suicide - Yeah, nah, not a cool thing to do.

Polygamy - I can't see myself getting involved with a polygamous relationship, but I don't have a problem with it.

Cloning humans - Not sure on this one.

Affairs - Not cool.

Pretty much agree with Pubic.
Things like gays and religion, I don't care what other people do as long as they don't shove it in my face or try and change me to their point of view etc. etc.

Not sure why you specified only physical suffering warrants doctor assisted suicide, mental suffering can be just as bad if not worse.

jord, I did oversimplify that a bit, one or two lines can't really cover such a complex issue.  I was intending more cases where the nature of the illness predisposes someone towards suicide/clouds their judgement.

Yeah Dilbert you clearly know every reason I want to join the U.S. military. I'm so glad you're around here to judge me and others from thousands of miles away without ever having spoken to me.

cheers
