How much is that?  If you can get it, 150/35 is $200 here.  50/20 is $150.
A month?
Yup.

With Virgin in the UK, it's like £25 with first 6 months half price, if you use their phone package.

six hundred euros. i can't think of a single game released in the last 5 years that is worth 600 euros of hardware investment

Wasn't this discussed earlier?  Not about the game, but enjoying the game at 5760x1200.

if you're into flight sims or something, sure, but that's incredibly niche. why would anyone want to play an fps game at those resolutions?

if those huge resolutions were in any way beneficial, wouldn't pros use them? they could surely afford it.

those massive resolutions give more eye-candy, sure, but they're almost definitely worse for gaming.

they're worse for gaming. I know. I'm running three 22" monitors now and it's in no way an advantage.

But what is your CPU and GPU setup?  Framerates? What if you had 680 x2 and a 3930K?

you are misunderstanding. the hardware and framerates are not important. having so much in front of you visually does not really help you. it's over-stimulation. having all of that peripheral stuff doesn't really give you any advantage. fov 90-120 and a 22" screen is more than enough for every other professional gamer. like i side having loads of monitors and 4 graphics cards is great if you're a tech-hobbyist or into flight sims or something, but for regular shooting games and stuff it adds nothing.

i think what's he's trying to ask/imply is that if you had capable hardware to pull perfect framerates on your games, would you prefer it then? to which i'm guessing the answer would still be 'no'.

Yeah, just realized, for FPS, a single 24" with sharp detail is just fine.  Just remembered my son now gets insane K/D moving from a 55" to a 24", that let's him see up close and react to the smallest of pixel movements.

But for me, the average gamer, to keep my sights on that excellent pilot.  But in the end, I'll mostly use it for single player games for the immersion.

Triple screens are great for entertainment, that includes gaming. If you take the shit too seriously then you definately want to have only one screen.

E: Bought that 3930K today too. And Asus Rampage IV Formula X79.

It's a cool idea, but with a phone being able to do all that shit for you on a bigger screen, there isn't much point. Shit, I've got a bunch of watches in a drawer collecting dust because I don't bother wearing them anymore.

just realised i posted this in the wrong place:

I was going to get an ultrasharp but changed my mind at the last minute and got this
http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/c … d-9-3d-led

it arrived today, it's pretty great

i really wasn't expecting much from the 3D but i would say it's at least as good as the cinema 3D, if not a little better because the screen doesn't seem as dark as it does in the cinema

even the 2D - 3D conversion works pretty well

you have to put the little button cell batteries in the glasses, not sure how long they're gonna last

I have a 65" Panasonic plasma 3D TV and three Active 3D glasses, with USB rechargable internal batteries.  But with the lack of good entertaining 3D content, we hardly use it.
