didn't you just say, like, yesterday, that you were over your rand phase? asking us to stop bringing up the 'john galt' era because it was something you read some time and now you've moved past it? doesn't really sound much like "i haven't changed since i arrived here". weren't you once in the military, on education benefits? now you're an anti-government, anti-politics, anti-benefits stalwart? doesn't sound much like "i haven't changed since i arrived here"...

except you didn't say something obviously right such as the sky is blue. you completely misrepresented in your ignorance what summer camps are about. you tried to construe a summer camp for young people to get together and have fun and take part in some community-action as something alike to a hitler youth movement. not quite fucking "the sky is blue", is it?

We get it uzi, you have no problem with these camps. You probably attended one yourself. To me they are weird and semi evil. Difference of opinion. Its not a right and wrong discussion, which you cant seem to grasp.

yes it is a right and wrong discussion when you try to claim that these camps are 'indoctrinating' young 'idealistic' children with political slogans and chants. which you have said multiple times. that is not what the camps are about, at all. so you are FACTUALLY wrong on that matter. you are also FACTUALLY wrong about them being young hitler jugend-type children: these are young, career-minded and socially engaged adults. people just coming into early adulthood and beginning to take an interest in their local community and wider society. this is commendable and mature behaviour, not indoctrination. you are FACTUALLY wrong about the nature of the camp in this sense. it is not up for debate. you are misconstruing their purpose to suit your own personal petty grievances against party-politics. this is not a party-politic indoctrination center. you are wrong.

and no i haven't ever been to a summer camp jesus how old are you? you debate like a little baby.

laughing my ass off. the 'future returns' they expect are community-minded and engaged young people that care for the continued wellbeing of their country. i'm not quite sure it's ideological, is it? they are trying to raise a future generation of responsible adults that will continue a tradition of civic pride and service to the country. that doesn't have anything to do with party politics or ideology.

True but that's not what I was meaning to imply, more the fact that holding a youth camp for whatever reason or under any religious/political/activist/cultural/etc. group isn't any reason to arbitrarily be responsible for violence of this nature. Probably a bit of a lazy post on my part.

Yes uzi, it is a matter of opinion, just like literature, and music, and everything else you like to argue endlessly about but which has no true definition of right and wrong. I view politicians and political parties as scum, you clearly do not have the same opinion I do, and once again, you are endlessly arguing with me, or anyone else that bothers to engage you. You call me childish, fine, but you're just about the most boring person I've ever come into contact with. It's the same thing every day, all day, in every damn thread. "I'm right, you're wrong" "I have an Oxbridge education and therefor I am correct" dude you suck. You're just a black hole of useless. You take the most literal interpretation of whatever anyone says to you and try to bludgeon them over the head with it until they raise the white flag. Yeah, I'm the shitty debater. Christ. how is a political summer camp's point "open to interpretation" like a symphony or a poem is? what sort of desperate rhetorical squirming is this, now? it's like you're bending over backwards to try and pepper in some personal ripostes. shameful. shall we wait for jenspm, our resident norwegian citizen, to come and correct you on the true nature and point of the summer camps? to give you the real deal on what the summer camp experience is like, and what its aims are? will it be a matter of you being 'wrong' then? or will his post just be yet another 'interpretation'?

I haven't deleted shit. Sure, I'll read what you've been doing for three pages if you think it's necessary. However, I'd like to see you at least stop with the verbal attacks and try to stay civil. If that's humanly possible.

There's nothing wrong with trying to get one's point across. Just skip the "You're just a black hole of useless", "child", "like a little baby"-shit.

On topic: "To me they are weird and semi evil". I don't really understand how you think they are, but I hope to get some insight as to how your mind works by reading the aforementioned three pages.

Edit: Skimmed through four pages, Hitler Jugend card played. Agreeing with Uzique. I think it has to do with me being a) Nordic and  b) a Social Democrat and hence brainwashed by commies.

Re: Jay - welcome to Norway, I'll be your guide. First let me say you have no idea what you're talking about. Some bullet points:

- These camps are not run by the main parties, but their youth divisions - that is, Labour Youth, in this case. The youth parties are not controlled by their mother parties, in fact they play an important role in keeping the main parties in check. Of course their main interests is in youth politics, and that is what dominates. They are important in defending youth rights in Norway.

- Second, again, welcome to Norway, this is not red v blue. We have 7 different parties in parliament. Do you think children are being brainwashed to join one of them? Lol, ok. I know plenty of people who join these parties - they do not do so because they were sent by their parents, but because they were interested in politics at a young age and wanted to get in on the discussion. And let me tell you, getting into full-scale adult party-politics at the age of 14-20 is not easy. Youth parties are the best way to get into politics if you're interested. Where I lived, most of the parents were your typical rich conservatives, yet most of the political active children joined left-leaning political youth parties.

- Also, worth noting, is that I know several people who switch youth-parties throughout their young-political 'career' - it is not an issue, it is not brainwashing.

You've miss-understood the purpose of the camps. They were not set up to secure future votes, they were set up to FACILITATE DISCUSSION BETWEEN LIKE-MINDED YOUNG INDIVIDUALS. You may not have been politically interested in your youth, but if you were, imagine being able to go to a summer camp and discuss it with people who were interested as well? And listen to and meet prominent, talented political figures? And be able to organise events and groups to work towards a cause you were specifically interested in?

The result of this is that politics has not become an 'elite' profession, as it is in many, many places. You can join these youth parties and get as active as you want no matter what your background, no matter where your from, and COMPLETELY REGARDLESS of your parents or any other external influence. 'Voteability' does not count, gender-quotas are a non-issue, there is no lying, no cheating. These parties lack everything you despise about politicians - they consist solely of young individuals who care, who do it because they see faults in the system/community that they want to fix.

Comparing it to the Hitlerjugend is completely insensitive, absolutely ridiculous and proves your ignorance.

You've just had multiple people tell you the same thing. It doesn't fucking matter anyway. Beck's camp is just as wrong as the Norwegian one. I don't care if the spirit is positive about public service yadda yadda. Political parties should have nothing to do with children. Period. End of story. Children should be left to be children, not exposed to the blackhearted individuals that enter politics and who will exploit them at every opportunity. Let that wait until after they become adults.
I would say it's healthier for their development. The alternative is that they listen to their parents rant about politics.. in the youth camps they can actually have discussions about it with lots of different people. Besides, if the youngest kid there was 15 I'd say that ought to be an age at which you can reason. It's not the hitlerjugend.

Its a summer camp associated with a political party. The political party expects future returns on their investment. They are not altruists.
They're as evil as the ROTC and Boy Scouts.

Northern European political parties are all much of a muchness, and as Jenspm points out they prefer grassroots involvement across a spectrum of citizens to a two-party system owned by the rich with unchallengeable dogma and centralised brainwashing.
These kids were mostly teenagers so they've probably developed critical thinking before they went and its unlikely their parents could have forced them to go if they didn't want to. The average Norwegian 16 year old is highly educated, politically aware and on the average probably speaks better English than you and me. They weren't toddlers spoonfed religion since before they could talk and kept in a permanent state of retardation by the 'guns r good' 'abortion r bad' joke which passes for debate.

I'd suggest getting a placard and standing outside this place if you feel so strongly http://www.campamerican.com/
Camp American will also help your teen recognize and refute false teachings and morally bankrupt philosophies now so prevalent in American culture. Students will discover the deception of evolution, the importance of purity and morals in a free society, and the pagan connection to the radical environmental movement. Your teen will learn the importance of prayer and action. Most importantly, students will learn that in order to restore America, we must return America to Christ.
Or get the Feds to bust them Waco style, maybe play some WoW and do it yourself.

Really I think you don't understand what social democracy is and how it works and are still confusing it with communism, or grasp that countries without a fixed two-party system locked in a 200 year time-warp have perfecly functional varied and evolving political systems which welcome debate and discussion by citizens and don't tolerate brainwashing by extended political corporations.
