hoegaarden is shit compared to good american craft ales. my suitemate loves it, like he loves the dulcet brostep of skrillex and excision; both are highly overrated among the college age crowd.
lmao what the fuck are you talking about? hoegaarden is consumed as some fashionable drink at yale? what an insufferably pretentious crowd you must hang around with. hoegaarden is a good belgian blonde beer. no idea why you would compare a belgian blonde to an american ale. great fucking job, drinking pro.
weren't you drunk-posting on here a year ago about playing beerpong with blue pabst ribbon? what a joker.
and lmao, "dulcet brostep". that's going in my quote book.

It's simply a popular choice to have as a "drinking to enjoy" beer rather than a "chug vaguely malt flavored water" beer. I've tasted it and didn't think it merited the popularity. The comparison is fair, because given a limited amount of money and stomach space, I think an american ale is a much better choice. Naturally since I'm under 21 I'm a noob and have only tasted these beers; those were my impressions.Uzique wrote:

As noted, beer pong is not played with good beer, and I don't recall at all posting about playing it with PBR.
i have no idea why you'd compare american ale to belgian blonde. if i wanted to drink some ale i'd be back here with some IPA. i wanted a belgian blonde. to compare them is to say that whiskey is better than vodka. they're different drinks and are both enjoyable to drink, which is their only similarity. it's a dumb comparison. go drink some more beer and stop making grand edicts.

Are you implying PBR is good?nukchebi0 wrote:

If the women don't find ya handsome. They should at least find ya handy.
vodka y pina vamossssssssssss
Most of the time when the belgian blondes are on deal up here they put them together, hoegaarden and leffe, and I end up getting exclusively leffe most of the time
i mean, hoegaarden is nice, but given the choice I'd rather have two bottles of leffe than one of each.

i don't drink hoegaarden that often, it makes a nice change. leffe is by no means the best blonde. duvel is much nicer but more expensive.

Duvel is the best of the ones you mentioned. You should try La Chouffe if you really like it. About the same price (here at least) and equally good.Uzique wrote:

Personally i'm not a fan of blonde beers, but Duvel and La Chouffe are alright in my book.
there's a belgian blonde called kasteel which is really nice
there's a place down the road that sells pretty much every one of these beers (plus quite a few more) to me at cost

tesco have started doing their own-brand 'blonde monk beer' or something. it comes in a hefty bottle for the price. i'm not sure i'm brave enough to put it inside of my body.

Best Belgians I've had are St. Bernardus 9 and Delerium Tremens. Yum.

we're discussing mass market blonde beers that you can get any night for a relaxing session. not micro-brews or special beers for so-called connoisseurs who turn their noses up at the beers on selection in their local convenience store. it's funny because if our posting roles were reversed, you'd be accusing me of elitism. you also sound like a hipster, "fuck major beer and drink producers!". lol.

My local convenience store carries microbrews, and there is a beer distributor with hundreds of selections half a block further.

most liquor stores will carry some sort of microbrew. the point is that we'll have none in common. hence why we're discussing mass-market beers that are widely available... from that awful conglomerate that you refuse to give your hipster-dollar to!!!!1

i had this belgian beer called Chimay Blue that was awsm

I drink it if there's nothing else. There's just so many better options out there to explore. The two beers I mentioned aren't rare, they just come in a large bottle so you won't see them at your 7-11 equivalent.

Very good one yeah. The blue is my favorite of that bunch (they have red and gold label versions too)Hurricane2k9 wrote:

i believe we're all talking about leffe and hoegaarden in 75cl bottles. that's the size you're on about, right? they do stock them. they just don't stock the specialist brews.Jay wrote:
