Shoppers say mall singled them out for tats, looking 'gay'

Salt Lake City's upscale City Creek Center promises that followers of the mall's Twitter feed will "stay fluent in fashion." But after a number of visitor Facebook posts that hint at discrimination, the mall may want to learn how to speak "fallout." It started when a Facebooker named Skinny Rose posted "I was in heels and my makeup was fierce...I was dressed very gender bender and they kick me out for looking too gay." Other stories followed about shoppers being asked to cover up their tattoos. The mall's "Code of Conduct" prohibits "clothing that is offensive to others," but it doesn't explain what warrants a visit from the Fashion Police or the Morality Detectives.
But is anyone surprised?

this is hilarious

Who knew that an opinion about pop music video could get Fox News so worked up? Recently, I wrote that I was appalled by Katy Perry's new video for the No 1 hit song, "Part of Me". In it, the narrative has the singer discover a boyfriend's infidelity; she responds to this by cutting her hair and – heading for basic training to become a Marine.
i don't follow pop music at all, but this article caught my eye. i watched the video - with the audio disabled, thankfully - and, holy wow. how transparent! what a weird fucking world we are living in when our bubblegum-candy pop music is advertising an industry of death.

Americans are so saturated by military advertising that we've become a bit desensitized to it, but no. I didn't miss the point of the article/video.

Oh, wait. You're serious.

Disturbing, but funny.

of course i'm being hyperbolic in my language. the point is that pop music is generally the most substance-less, innocent, fun form of music. it's a simulacra of real music and meaning. pop music is vapid, empty, meaningless. catchy little choruses to tap your foot along to. things for little kids to dance to at parties. clearly the military's PR folks are crossing over into pop music as a way of advertising and glamorizing the military. it's completely poisonous. anyone who sees the video can see it is clearly a heavily-doctored bit of spin work, picking up VERY perniciously on themes such as female empowerment and independence (themselves commendable) and turning them to an end that promotes war and the military. it's batshit insane. whatever happened to this? summer of love, 2001?

from multicoloured fun to military adverts in the space of a war-torn decade.  incredible.

look at that, an officer from the british army not even using military imagery in his breakthrough video! even though he got his break singing awful songs on military bases or whatever. meanwhile in america... helicopters and APCs in music videos. okay.

girls dig Marines.
The idea of a big, pretty, body builder Marine gets them wet.

Judging by her chest, I'm guessing Katy Perry is a girl.

you really think the purpose of that video is to suggest katy perry joined the marines because she wanted to meet a marine?

i can't even tell when you're being sarcastic with that. i thought you were referencing him because he's ex-military, singing love songs. as opposed to never-military, appearing in army advert music videos. the whole suicide thing was more than a bit random. it's a cheesy ballad.

that could be interpreted as a cleansing, a romantic anabaptism, a wiping of the slate clean (notice the clean aesthetics of the video? the rain, washing things away?)

it's clearly not a suicide attempt. he takes his clothes off, as if he's going for a dip. you just have a fucking sick mind.

i mean if a guy wanted to drown himself, why would he take his shoes off? you are going full retard.
