Well Dilbert clearly from the small tidbit of information that we have been given about the guy, he was assumed-clean. Though if you treat someone suspiciously and like a drug addict that is going to be relapse any minute... they probably will relapse. Perhaps not the smartest choice of gift but I don't see anything really wrong with the sentiment.

Yay, I found out what was wrong with my car

My uncle's roommate used a connector/terminal cleaning tool on the battery and the inside of the wire connectors and it got rid of the idling problem! Now I just gotta wait and see if the car drains all the way again from something but functionally it's back to normal and I couldn't be happier. I think the corroded positive battery terminal was just so bad that the battery could neither charge nor be charged adequately no matter what battery it was. It was apparently so bad that something in the air/fuel system wasn't even getting enough juice and thus causing my idling problem

im doing a full restoration on a 65 Mustang part of that being a suspension upgrade. Everything is new none of the old suspension is utilized. final cost including parts and install around $13000 the car sold for $2400 in 1965

VW had is Annual Shareholder Meeting here yesterday, so today they're showing off all the cars they make. Had a look at the Aventador, that extra hot Gallardo and a Veyron Grand Sport. Gave the Audis a wide berth because there were a million turks getting their pictures taken with them, although strangely no one seemed to care about the DTM one. They also had a couple prewar Auto Union and Skodas and such. Much better looking than the current cars imo.

Thinking about buying a BMW 320ci model year from 2001-2005 (used from a dealer). Similar to the above.

15k USD I'd be willing to go up to but have seen plenty of them going for less than that, depending on the mileage.

My only concern is that the maintanance will be costly as BMW parts don't come cheap.

Am I retarded or would this be a decent purchase?

Risky. Depends how well it's been looked after. If it's a gem then you shouldn't expect to fork out for repairs for a while. If it needs a few things like timing chain, brakes, clutch etc. then it could cost you more than you bargained for.

I don't know enough about cars to say yay or nay. My bet would be to call a reliable mechanic you may know and get their take on it.

2003 Lancer, only 75,000 kms, new tyres, came with Pioneer 4.1 stereo with Kenwood amp, new six month rego. Asking $8.2, I got them down to $7.7 with rear window tinting replaced and logbooks updated. Regularly serviced, runs like a charm. Took it to my mechanic of five years on the test drive and he specialises in Mitsus, told me "they got these ones right" and to buy it. My old car didn't even have power steering, so this is like luxury

That's how it is for me right now.

Old car:

No power steering
Manual windows
Low profile tyres so I could feel every bump in the road
Lowered suspension so bigger bumps would scrape the tyres against the chassis
Custom tinting that had faded and ahad a mirrored finish on the top third so it was hard to see through
Alloys needed an allen key type fitting and could only be removed with an air pressure hose
Aircon only worked on driver's side
Two door coupe so it was always a hassle getting my bass amp/bass and/or passengers into the car
Pretty gutless but all up it was a tidy little car for what it was
Decent stereo but one of the speakers kinda crackled a bit at higher volume
White in colour so it could go without a wash for a while but it had rust spots in the roof

New car:

Power steering
Electric windows
Brand new tyres
Much smoother ride on the road
As new tinting that us uniform and easy to see out of
Factory standard alloys
Aircon works well throughout and is icy cold
Sedan (nuff said)
Better engine, performance and handling, uses a little more fuel though but that's to be expected
Much better stereo with sub in the boot
Black in colour so I have to wash it like once a week

that was a good 3-series (they're all sort of very good though). if it's been well cared for then yeh, consider it to be made out of granite they're that reliable. if it's been used a bit...enthusiastly its probably worth getting belts and the clutch checked, and electronics

great driving cars though, they really do feel much more involved than any other 4dr sedan type vehicle. i preferred our last 3-series over the A5 for actual driving

if the car has full service history at either BMW or an indie with great reputation and the car checks out when looked at by a professional then i'd be surprised if anything went wrong with it. always a good idea to have funds available just for peace of mind though

^^ the beeeeeeeemer we had was a fleet car so it got used and abused - motorway slogs, (lots of) backroad blasting and the like, but with it's regular checks+service it never once broke. i think the most annoying thing that happened was a puncture
