I put the New patch on and now It just hangs at the Connecting to Account Server page? I have turned my Firewalls off so PC is wide open.

Leave the PC and come back in like 10 min. and it'll be done loading. It takes FOREVER to connect to account server...
Yep, mine does that too.
Made the mistake of installing the incremental patch before reading about the problems with that version. Am presently downloading the full version which will hopefully sort things out.

Delete account and re-retrieve it. Dunno why this works but it did for me
My main bug is that after loading a map it drops into windows meaning a full re-start of BF2 is required to get going again... and agina... and again.
Having said that I have noticed it taking longer to get to the account server. This happened when I updated my original to 1.22 in one go. A full re-install fixed it... and it looks like that's the only thing I'll be able to do to solve my own problems with 1.3... unless I just play against bots in single player... why did I buy this game again?

so the incremental patch is causing trouble getting into account server? Just making the connect time long or what? Let me know so i dont waste all of my playing time tonight after work trying to fix this stupid thing lol

i do beleive its the server logo cache( i could be wrong, but it makes sense)

It seems to be extending the connect time to the account server, but there are other bugs and gliltches in there too (see my post above, plus many others across the forum). If you can play without the patch, I'd do that, but more likely, re-install the works and go straight to 1.3. People were online when I was having problems so it's clearly not an exclusive issue... but do you want to take the chance on the incremental or have a stonewall solution (well as stonewall as EADICE ever seems to get) right off the bat?

*i'm not trying to be nasty.. i'm just giving some friendly advice with the use of big letters *
roger that raven, ill just download the full patch, and try to get the remove/install done when i get home....hopefully i can still get some playing time in tonight.
Tip: Delete your profiles folder in your my documents/bf2 folder. Then retrieve your account, and reset your controls/video/audio/crosshair whatever. Itll run MUCH smoother and not crash as much

It took me about a minute to login first time I instlaled 1.3. Now it's back to the usual 6 seconds.
Im in Australia & I dont see ANYONE playing on the servers listed in gamespy. Cant start the game separately either since patching to 1.3 looks to me like somethings up with the account server right now, though I logged on ok a few mins prior to applying the patch to check my stats in BFHQ.
EDIT: ok after a few mins I got an error that I was unable to connect to a server via gamespy but logged in ok to my account in BFHQ. I was then able to login to a server via the multiplayer browser so all is good.
