In game when I ask for a vehicle drop or I see the vehicle drop text in-game I see "HUD_HUD_SF_needvehicle" (or something close to that). I did edit my localization but I am wondering how to fix this problem without having to reset the file because I love the way it is now. Can anyone help me with this? (btw sry if i posted in the wrong section).

i have the same problem....but also with the L9 and the UAV... L9= killmessage_weapon_L96a1 and UAV = Killmessage_vehicle_UAV....VD = Hud_...
That happened to me too. I had to install the full patch.
huh.....ive installed all the patches, but nothing has worked....o well. its not big loss
Hmm,I just removed my modded files and put the backup back in before installing.
Then I copied&pasted every modded line into the new English.utxt,but while comparing it I seem to have found that they didn't actually alter a thing in this file....
The "HUD_HUD_SF_needvehicle" seems to be something else,at least no problems here.But I only edited the English.utxt file,the others are untouched.

Okay.
I found where the code lies. It in the directory EA Games\Battlefield2\mods\xpack\english\english_mappacks
Mine seems to display the correct code though, but its in the xpack folder for some reason. why isnt it in the vanilla bf2 one?
Anyone having this problem in Special Forces?

what the hell. This is retarted! There are two utxt files named English_mappacks but one is for euro forces, and the other is for AF O.O
English.utxt and XPEnglish.utxt are still version 1.12(in SF there's one with 1.07!),all the other files seem to be updated to 1.3....
So if you only changed some basic things like the kill messages and therefore only edited the English.utxt file and not the SF or Euro content,like I did,it should work without any problems.

Think i just found how to fix, testing now.
Done!
Heres how to fix it:
==========================
Open this directory: Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\xpack\Localization\English\English_mappacks.utxt And find this:
Copy what is selected in the screenshot then open up this directory: Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Localization\English\English_Mappacks.utxt
Scroll down to the bottom and paste what you copied right where i've placed it:
Now, save both files and close, now go play!
Any problems, let me know!
============================
I have no idea why this is but in my localization pack i will add this file in, but it wont be untill the weekend that i realease my global pack, as i was waiting for this patch to release my pack to the general public. But use this as a temp fix
