Don't get why Scientology gets such a poor reputation.  I mean yes it's a bizarre belief system, yes it has a concerning amount of power and yes it has been involved in a considerable number of atrocities - but I just described pretty much any religion you care to name. If people really think Scientology is a legitimate threat that must be taken down what's to say other religions shouldn't be taken down as well? Really the only thing that sets Scientology apart from the rest is its relatively young age. We tend to think that there is plenty of hard historical evidence about L Ron Hubbard and the creation of Scientology so people having belief in it is illogical. But Mormonism is also relatively young, there is plenty of hard historical evidence that shows Joseph Smith as a delinquent crook and even then his story is pathetically weak. Even traditional Judaic religions, though they have time on their side, have a considerable amount of evidence that counters their version of events. But people still are utterly committed to this bullshit, regardless of all the additional insanity.

But the key thing is that regardless of age they're all as crazy nut-fuck as each other. Space-lords, magic underwear, virgin births, ascending to Heaven on an Emu, it's all the same bizzaro shit. Is Scientology somehow worse because it's new or is there something I'm not considering here?

Ty, you might be right on some things in your post, but not everything, given by what eleven bravo posted.
Scientologist have extremely high demands attached to their 'membership'. Their crazy trials, the insane devotion they demand from you and above all the large sums of money they require make scientology more cult than religion, regardless of its age.
Like with most cults, it looks like (and probably is) a scam that has gotten out of hand. The scammer probably dont even know what theyre doing because even they all started to believe their own lies.
You cant 'practise' scientology in your own household, you cant call yourself officially a scientologist and all that without paying them and performing ridiculous other acts, unlike with other 'real' religions.

Scientologist is a joke that dragged on too long and now the joke-teller lost the point he was supposed to get to.

an all of that rolled into one belief.  but its not just tithing.  In order to reach the next level you are required to participate in specific courses.  courses that require lots of money in order to participate.

I realize that. It was just some of those things you listed, when taken in the context of "not Scientology" don't seem so odd.

Not that I'm defending Scientology, mind you. They're nuttier than most.

In a nutshell, yes, it's crazy because it's new.  And because I think the vast majority of people, even religious people, know it for what it is.  A cult.  The idea here is to put them out of business, BEFORE they become an accepted religion.  Which will no doubt happen, in the next 50-100 years.

The business of forcing people to admit their deepest secrets and fears as part of the induction, then threatening to publish them if they ever leave - thats rather more than most cult-religions do.

Then again people should know that when they join.

Historically thats been the only way to eradicate cults and religions.

I understand that these actors are under Monarch mind control, which involves torture & sex abuse, for all we know this could be an elaborate scam by Hollywood to take the heat off that fact. Besides, if this story made the gov controlled media then you know it a lie!
