pulled an allnighter and had to skip school. normally, i get home from school at this time, and i still have to finish a ton of shit that i fell behind on
i need to learn to do work on weekends
i need to learn to do work on weekends
How long is the personal statement?
well, it was a 750 word personal statement, and then i spent 300 words on a 'brief statement' about how im interested in the university and my major.
it's not much at all, but i'm not exactly a good writer. i spent a lot of time rewriting it over and over. i sort of messed up my 7th semester GPA so i have to make sure i had a good essay. and of course, i was distracted a couple of times simply from being on the computer. but i'd say at least 80% of the time was spent on the essay, not including hygiene and eating

it took you 24 hours to write a page and a half?

Oh okay. Hope you do well. Where are you applying to? What are your safety schools?
Being 2012 and all you should've chosen Ænema by Tool.Hurricane2k9 wrote:

ugh, ended up using NIN's "Capital G" since I couldn't think of anything else. i bet there are at least 3 papers about a Rise Against song.
maybe, im apprehensive about receiving hate for it being shitty, heh, which it very well could be. i decided to make it about somebody who influenced me, about my best friend.Kimmmmmmmmmmmm wrote:

thanks. this actually sort of is my safety.Macbeth wrote:

i don't know if anyone really remembers, but i sort of fucked up the first two years of high school. junior year i recovered and got a 4.0 from taking normal classes. senior year i decided to take 5 AP classes along with an internship after school. the fact that i had never even been in an honors class combined with the extra work from college apps, i got rocked. my GPA wasn't extremely horrible, but it could've been much better.
well, i got denied from U of I in urbana-champaign for comp science, which isn't too much of a surprise.
purdue deferred me, and i'm still waiting for them, but i decided that purdue is not worth $40k per year so whatever
my current application is for bradley university. it's a smaller private school near urbana-champaign. i've heard good stuff about it. it's not as academically well known as the above two, but ive heard it still provides an awesome 'college experience' if you know what i mean. i don't just mean drinking and partying, but like i can be independent and make a ton of new friends and etc. i think total, it would be $32k per year, but they give everyone a $10k scholarship. so thats $22k per year not including any other scholarships i may receive, so i think it's a good deal.
even though this is a safety/target, i still really want to get in. if i don't get in here, i really don't know where i'm going. prolly a small catholic university near my house
I would've picked this:Jaekus wrote:

Discovery with people as the object just doesn't seem right. They already existed, so you didn't discover them...HaiBai wrote:

My story begins with my family and I moving to a new neighborhood when I was in the sixth grade. Shortly after arriving, I decided to explore the neighborhood and came upon a group of boys who were playing with a wasp tied to a length of string. They were taking the wasp for a walk as if it were a dog. I asked them how they managed to tie the string to a living wasp, and a chubby little boy piped up and explained how it was accomplished. (Explanation of how here). That chubby little boy became my best friend and one of my greatest influences.

walk away from the essay for a day or so, and then re-read it and edit it then.
