Hi

So looking to start a new build but my finger's way off the pulse since my last build. Can anyone review and advise? All from scan.co.uk

8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Arctic White, PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.35V

Intel Core i5 2500, S1155, Sandy Bridge, Quad, 3.3GHz, HD2000 IGP 850Mhz, 6MB Cache, 95W

1GB MSI GTX 560Ti OC Twin Frozr II 40nm, 4200MHz GDDR5, GPU 880MHz, Shader 1760MHz, 384 Cores

120GB Corsair Force Series GT, SATA III SSD, SandForce SF2200, Read 555MB/s, Write 515MB/s, 85K IOPS

Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3, Intel Z68, S 1155, DDR3, SATA III - 6Gb/s, RAID SATA, PCIe 2.0 (x16), VGA On Board, ATX

LiteOn IHOS104-06 4xBlu-ray, 8x DVD Reader OEM inc Software

Plus a couple of other HDD's for storage

Will I have to look at upgrading my PSU, currently 600W?

No budget per se but ideally like to keep it as cheap as possible and as fast as possible, that build I think is currently standing at £680, if I have to upgrade the psu ontop of that then so be it.

planning on overclocking? Then get the i5 2500k instead of the vanilla 2500.

What psu do you currently have?

Are you paying a premium for the Arctic White DDR3?
edit: yes, you're paying nearly a tenner more for the white ram. get the normal blue or black stuff

I agree with Cam that you should get the 2500k so you can overclock it. I would also upgrade your PSU to the Corsair 850. It's worth the money and is IMO the best I've used.

I reccomend a new psu as well. Just couldn't face buying a new rig and re-using a psu.

Corsair is what you want. Can't fault them.

I have a CX650 and it's running a GTX460, Athlon II x4, 8gb ddr3, 3 hard drives (1 Sata and 2 IDE) and a DVD drive.

You can save money buy not buying corsair modulars, most cases these days have room for hiding unused wires, such as carbide series.

After going modular i'm not going back. Sure, if you're strapped for cash go for a non-modular PSU. But if i'm forking out $1000+ on a rig, I'm willing to spend the extra ~$30 to get a PSU that is easier to work with and ensures better airflow and cable management.

I agree, now I've been using modular for the past two years I could never go back.

Just running a 600w psu, can't remember what it is exactly but it's 4 years old do would make sense to upgrade I guess. Wasn't Planning on overclocking, last time I tried it turned ugly. So everything else looks well matched does it? Thanks for the help.
