Has anyone else experienced a fps drop with the new Catalyst 6.4 ati drivers?

I used to be able to run a constant 80+ fps with everything on high and 100 constant with everything on medium, Now I find with the new drivers Im sitting @ 40 and 50 fps on maps like Karkand with everything on medium.

I have tried various methods of removing the new drivers but to no avail, Im left with the final option of formatting unless you lot can come up with something. HELP!

System

G-Card is a 1900 XT-X
DFI Lanparty Crossfire Edition MOBO
2 GiG of G-skill ram
Twin 74 Gig 10,000 RPM Raptors Raid 0
AMD Athlon 3800 XP
Sound Blaster Fatal1ty Edition
600 Watt Modular PSU

I'm also using an ATI card, though not as high end as your's, but I haven't seen any frame drops actually...

Have you ever had any problems removing old drivers before installing newer ones?

I have tried the ATI driver removal tool and reinstall of 6.2, manual deletion and reinstall, and system restore. None of them have put the machine even close to its old performance

This is my first ATI card so im pretty much the n00b at all this

If you are having troubles removing video drivers, I recommend using Driver Cleaner Pro. Its a free download, and it does a great job. You can download it here: http://www.drivercleaner.net/professional.html Just make sure to follow the instructions in the readme or on the website, for the best possible job.

I have an X850 XT x16 with 2gb ram and an Athlon 64 3200+ OC'd to 2.3 GHz, and I run around 30fps on all high settings on 1024. Should I be getting higher? O_o

I think I downloaded them from http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1396

Should be fine, guru3d is a decent site for that kind of stuff.

i think your issue is this, thou i could be mistaken. try turning off v-sync, 3d refreshrate override, and adaptive anti-aliasing in the cat control center. vsync will cap your fps at the refresh rate. hopefully yours is not at 30, but it could be a bug (?).

i have a x1900xt 512 and i had the same problem with the 6.4s, that solved it. i can send you a full list of settings via PM if you want. (PM me if you do)

I'm running omega drivers ( www.omegadrivers.net ). I'm 99% sure my AA is off, but I'll look for some tweaks in the ATI Tray Tools. Also, I'm overclocking to Platinum Edition clocks.

30fps? thats shit...

I'm runnning almost the same specs (i have a 3000+ clocked at 2.0)... I get anywhere from 50 to 100ish fps on high at 1280x1024 6xaa...

but yeah.. 6.4 seemd to drop me a few fps..

The last few official drivers (6.4 and 6.3) are causign alot of problems for owners of X1800 and X1900 cards.
Some of these people say that these new Betas foxed their problems but some say they just created new ones like lower FPS and rebooting issues etc.

So use at own risk.

I myself suggest that you go back to 6.2 Till ATI finally delivers some proper drivers.

I have a X800 Pro but i modded and OC'd mine to a X850 XT PE, i have 2gigs of RAM and a P4 3.0GHz and i get around 30 - 50 FPS, it all depnds what map i am playing as some like akrkand are really nice and smooth, and some are lagy as hell (daqing oil feilds)

I just installed the 6.5 beta.. (dosent seem to make a differnce for me) and if by settings you mean everything under 3D thats all at "let the application decide".. all other settings are default.
