also lol at calling cod1 and cod2 "ww2 rehashes". they were the best ww2 fps games ever done, period. you clearly didn't play them. stop talking about stuff you know nothing about. you didn't experience it, so stop make statements as if you have the knowledge or qualification to do so. cod1 DID "make the series", because it was one of the first team-based shooters to ever have a major, mainstream competitive scene. cod1 was massive. you just don't know what you're talking about. mong.
We must not forget Medal of Honor : Allied Assault and the role it played in helping to create what would become the "Call of Duty" experience. And if I recall correctly, CoD2 was when it
really took of, because of its popularity on the console. But this was, of course, why it sucked so bad on the PC, it was a step back (which in many ways seems to mirror the BF2 -> BF3 transition).
And on top of that you had bullshit like CoD : Big Red One, CoD : Finest Hour already on consoles, as well as multiple Medal of Honor titles, as well as Ubisoft trying to get in on the action with Brothers in Arms.
Call of Duty 3 deserves an honorable mention--although it did not compare at all to the others on the PC, it is the title which came closest to replicating the United Offensive expansion pack : wide open maps and vehicles, a nice mix obviously influenced by Battlefield. Even if it was console only, I preferred it over all the other console versions of CoD since. I prefer my PC and console games to be "separate but equal"
Battlefield was smart enough to realize the World War 2 bubble would pop and went modern, months before CoD2 was even released. And again, CoD4 was obviously influenced by it as they took the UAV and unlock/rank system and expanded it to include perks, which added spice at first but has not been significantly improved for... well, thats about 4 years ago now. lol.
So now it has gotten to the point where instead of Battlefield innovating and leading the way, it was too intent on beating its competitor/leech.... and we have all seen how CoD handles a lack of new ideas.
Also, uzique may be a prick but anyone worth their salt will agree with him.
