watch the video and stop trolling. where was the threat from that crowd of people rushing to pick up and carry off a ko'd guy? i didn't see anyone throwing tear-gas canisters at the police. they were stood stone-still and completely unbothered, under no threat at all.

and if i can't control myself? lol. you returned to make the same dumb comments you've been making for like 7 years. how is your life literally going nowhere? no wonder you shit on idealists and people with beliefs in d&st. you're a zombie.

ummm.. I would.  If I had a cause.  Crying about rich people is not a cause.  I would also follow the rules that allow protest.
you don't know anything about the circumstance of that video. you assume they were breaking the rules to the extent that they 'deserved' tear gas canisters to the face. again, very dangerous attitude. why don't you ever question what the police do? and even when brutality and over-use of force is shown undeniably to your face, your best answer is "that's just the way it is here dude, stop crying". ok ok. clearly going to be changing minds for a brighter future here...

my complaint isn't with a knee to the neck. that's standard restraint training stuff, okay fine. my point is with arresting someone IN THE FIRST PLACE because they're waving a flag. how is that an arrest-worthy offence? same with the second video. my problem isn't with using tear gas non-lethally to disperse a large crowd that won't budge. my problem is with hitting someone in the face (even if by total accident) and then doing NOTHING to help that person. in fact, making the situation WORSE by flashbanging people that are trying to carry him to medical help. that's my problem. how are either of those things a) legal or b) of any benefit to the wider public? it's bad policing. fullstop.

crowd control and policing are two different things.  accidents happen.  cops who did shit on purpose do get in trouble.

the wider problem here, of course, isn't that this was an isolated incident of one cop getting carried away. videos and examples of this shit abound from the recent crackdown. it seems to be endemic that your police, in no matter which state or city, will mishandle things. and you wonder why people are pissed off? okay maybe you hated the occupy wall street guys and thought they were hippies... fair enough. but now you've just given them something else to cry about for weeks on end... and now they actually do have a point. that policing was totally uncalled for.

i will take the UK's supposedly "heavy" and "controversial" handling of protests, e.g. kettling people and putting them within confined, fenced-off spaces... over the US's anyday. people do not get shot in the head and left to bleed on the pavement here. if you prefer that, then wow. i think that's only a few ranks above somalia when it comes to law enforcement ethics.

You have to pay to play.  If you're involved in a lengthy protest then you have to know that sooner or later you're going to have a run in with the police.  When the law finally does arrive they're not going to ask you politely to move along they're going to help you on your way with force.  Could the police have handled the situation better?  Of course but things happen in chaos and people get hurt.

i'm sorry, but it ain't. not by any legal tenet or clause. it's dickhead police getting riled up and aggro'd in a crowd situation and using their authority wrongly.
I've never seen a cop attack someone that wasn't daring him to do so. You see these videos and they all follow the same basic formula: push cop, film aftermath, claim police brutality. Whathefuckever.

cops should have a higher standard of conduct though than to get involved in this push-and-pull, back-and-forth mob mentality bullshit. a cop is a person given extra-legal powers to PROTECT CITIZENS, not to form two opposing sides in some facile tribal face-off and then hit a bunch of old ladies with mace and billyclubs. even if crowds are provocative and rude (which they have a RIGHT to be, within reason, under freedom of speech) that doesn't give the people that are supposed to be setting the high example in society an excuse to use their extra-legal powers to crack some skulls. that's just egotism - reacting purely because of taking personal offence, not because there has been a legal offence. a police force is definitely supposed to be above that. all i see in the videos of the us police is a bunch of fat, overweight douchenozzles that can't take any sleight during a highly-charged mob event, and so lash out. totally unprofessional.

and hudson: lets just say that i think things could be handled a LOT, LOT better than that. leaving some guy unconscious, bleeding from the head, 2 metres in front of you? hitting people that are trying to help him to safety with a flashbang? i mean come on, really? these guys were probably back-slapping one another about that back at the station in the showers. what a load of nonsense.

dangerous attitude, yet again. regressive, conservative bullshit. anyone protesting against the decisions of the government deserves a smack? because they stuck their neck out on the line? dared to speak out? who cares if you think it's a worthy cause or not - they do. and they have their right to protest. to say they "deserve a smack" because they're out in the streets protesting over something that doesn't concern/bother you, is extremely dangerous. you do realise what the logical endpoint of that line of argument is, right?

sure sometimes it is necessary. but i am 100% about having checks and measures in place to monitor and scrutinize the police's actions, all the time. on every operation. they are invested with extra-legal powers and they should not wield them irresponsibly. we as the citizens and taxpayer divest the power in these people to act as they do. and they damn well had better use it properly, and by the book.

Acting out by shutting down local small business is a great way to protest actions of the government that solely benefit big business.

i don't agree with the protestors. my qualm is with police handling. who cares if the protestors are doing wrong? that's an opportunity to enforce the law professionally and to put things right. instead you have a messy shitfuck of a scenario where the police react to protestors being dicks by being bigger dicks themselves. great. soooo productive.
