Now, from the outset you may think this has nothing to do with improving BF2. Perhaps you may be right. However, I'd like to make this point. When you have a username, your points are tied into the name (and PID). I think there should be a system where you can move your points to another username (but still keep your PID so they can ban you by that etc.). I know that I don't like my username as much as I did at first and I'd like a change to reflect my ideals at the time.
Now then, some of you may say "What about my friends on BF2 - how could I find them if they are under a different pseudonym?" I say that EA should make it so on the points menu (press TAB) your PID should be shown by your name. Also, perhaps they could make it so it would show all of your previous alias' when you right-click on their name. I know this could be annoying when the system is abused - but this happens when progress is being made. To combat abuse of the system, it shoudl only show your past 4 or 5 usernames and you could only change your name once every week.
Remember - this is only an idea and I appreciate all remarks. Does anyone think this is a logistical system for BF2, or perhaps it should be left and be considered for BF2142?

My name must be one of the easiest to search for. It only has 4 chacacters in and they are all numbers. It wasnt really a factor in choosing my name I'm just glad I got it 1st.

I dont like the idea you suggested only due to I struggle with enough info on the screen as it is, however, I do value your comment and the point you make.

i like the idea, but it has to be such a function that if u right click ur score list, u can select a player... clicking on him will show more information about him...

Thanks, mate (1927), that's very good of you. Can you make any suggestions as to how this could possibly work in your view - or do you think not at all?

On a side note - what part of Wales are you from?

Also, thanks martini...that was kind of the thing I was thinking about...you have a point with the right click (amended now)!

but of course a lot of guys will change their names then everyday again, and if u show their info in your list ur screen will be full of last usernames, so maybe only their 1st username + PID has to be shown, and maybe the nr. of points he has ingame...

Yeah, as I said in the first post some may abuse the system - perhaps EA could limit it so that you could only change your name once a week? And it would show only your past 4 or 5 usernames.

What about unlocks? I could see creating a second account and getting the two unlocks I don't have and transfering them. I'd get all the guns with 40,000 points less than everyone else...

I like the basic idea. Score is tied to PID. Username switchable once every 90 days to prevent abuse. It'd give enough chance for someone to change a stupid username.

But then they'd have to figure out how to keep 2 folks from using the same name.

At least I wouldn't have to program it. But the idea is interesting.

Well, for the answer to the first question, I can understand your confusion. The system is so that the unlocks and points are tied in with the PID and the shown username is just a front for ease of identification. SO no double unlocks if the same PID is kept (which I suggested).

To the latter, I'd say changes avaliable every week or so, but I understand how you can think that is too often. How about every fortnight - or month, even? And with the past 4/5 usernames shown (and the PID) you could fairly easily find someone.

The programming could be difficult but...does anyone here know anything on how hard that would be?

Raven I dont really have a view on it to be honest m8. That could be cos its 9am n I'm wiping sleep outta my eye, but probably due to the fact Im happy with how things are now. I havent given any thought to changing my name.

This is how it should have been implemented - bar the PID showing on the usermenu. It would however, show in BFHQ, along with past usernames.

Change of name would be allowed once a month, and no duplicate unlocks allowed per PID. If you were in game, and wanted PID for a player, you could use the console, which would write a reply to the screen or a text file.

Man i would really like to have that ability. I started playing before the patch that allows clan tags to be added separately, so my tags are part of the name. Unfortunately, the clan is all but dead, and i don't want to lose 34,000 point just to remove the tags.

Like the idea, But once a week mate, come on, thats way too over the top. Why would you want to change it that oftern? Unless you where doing something wrong.

Like stats padders are found by names, then by pins. If it could be changed, could be a little harder for people to track down. OR for people who continualy TK.

Every 90 days max would be good, as most people if they want to change their name at all would onlt need to do it once. Its Main advantace is if you have a clan tag, and you leave the clan. Your stuck with it....

Just my thoughts on the matter
