I just put a brand new BFG 7800GS OC on my pc to replace the old ATI X700 Pro.

The problem is after I changed the video setting in BF2 from low to medium at 1280x1024 60HZ, I am experiencing severe low fps. Then I turned off all the shading and lighting options, it doesn't help neither. Now I am back to the original low setting like before with spending $250 on a new card.

Is this right?  I don't think so. I checked the driver and updated it to the newest one. It is still the same.  How about your experience with the 7800GS??????????????????? I really need your help.

The other specs for my pc:
1.5G PC3200 RAM
AMD 64 3200+ CPU.
Creative Audigy 2 ZS.

id say its a software problem, such as back ground programs or a driver issue. i used to have the same set up but only witha  6800 gt and could run on high no probs.

Update:

I solved the problem by reinstall the windows. When I uninstalled the ATI driver, the program somehow died in the middle for no reason, so I have to terminate it manually. There are some remaining DLL files left that the driver cleaner won't be able to get them out.

Now the card works like a charm:)

You have to boot into safe mode to properly use DriverCleaner. While the reinstall wasn't necessary, I'm not going to harp on you about it.

I know about the safe mode. But somehow, my system was crippled. After scaning the files, it won't boot up with the safe mode.  New system always feel good:)
