Why are they always short on water, gas, guns, food, and cars?! They're in a zombie apocalypse. There is no shortage of cars along the road that the two police officers probably know how to hot-wire. In those thousands upon thousands of cars is gasoline. Thousands of stores probably have water and canned goods, and even houses no doubt contain tons of useful things. There are 14 million registered gun owners in the U.S. How are there not guns lying all over the place? That's the first thing every survivor would go for and carry with them.
What is their ultimate goal anyway? Are they trying to find other survivors or just live together alone? Are they going to settle down somewhere?

Atlanta's a gigantic city with a lot of vehicles, and if almost every single person to trying to leave by vehicle, gas is going to get used up. It's not like they're getting gas deliveries when the station attendants either 1) left or 2) are zombies.
2) Clearly people had been trying to leave for days... where do people go when disaster first strikes? Supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacies. I'm sure they were all raided.
3) They're traveling along a main highway and trying to stay away from any signs of civilization. Not exactly going to be many supplies now is there?
4) Rick stated in the very beginning of the episode they were going to try Fort Benning. It's on the border of Alabama and Georgia and about a hundred miles south of ATL.

Well, lack of need for spoilers aside...those are valid questions. Just as valid as asking why the group splits up or the girl walks outside the house all alone or whatever abysmally stupid cliched move gets made in a horror flick.

2 - There might still be food at those locations. It's worth a try and so are homes.
3 - Cars will have all kinds of things in them. There will be everything from work trucks to family vans packed with things you could take.
4 - Yes but why there? What are they looking for? Safety, food, and civilization?
There's no reason all those military outposts would have been overrun with walkers. So many freaking plot holes.
Now I know I'm a big complainer about things when they're not realistic, but the issues I've mentioned don't keep me from enjoying the show. There's just little things I like to nit pick at.

1) If you let a car idle for a long time, the gas will eventually get used up. Cars burn more fuel at idle than they do driving. Obviously that's what they were doing in the latest episode was siphoning off gas.
2) The problem with those locations is that they are near civilization. What's also a part of civilization? People. What are all the people now? Zombies.
