My current job probably has just as high if not a higher risk of death anyway.Pochsy wrote:
Is the salary capped at 80k, though? In my city cops can make around 100k a year through overtime and contract work- but they're working 50 hour weeks. I guess if there is no violent crime it's not such a bad deal, but there's always the risk of death, no matter how safe you think it is.Adams_BJ wrote:
Pay here in au is pretty good (~55k starting salary as a PROBATIONARY constable.. So you arent even an employed officer at that stage, + shift allowances). Not really putting your life at risk here in au as there is next to no firearms and you are nearly always with a partner. Plus all the benefits you get to go along with it, including state paid for funerals.Pochsy wrote:
More importantly, why would you want to be a police officer? Deal with the bad side of society every day, shit pay, putting life at risk, terrible shifts. And the satisfaction you get from making the world a better place isn't enough; if you're good at any job you can claim to be doing the same.
So are you in police academy now, or just trying to get your foot in the door?
Just trying to get my foot in the door atm, and i can turn it into a career if i decide police isnt the way for me anyway.
