Pay here in au is pretty good (~55k starting salary as a PROBATIONARY constable.. So you arent even an employed officer at that stage, + shift allowances). Not really putting your life at risk here in au as there is next to no firearms and you are nearly always with a partner. Plus all the benefits you get to go along with it, including state paid for funerals.
Is the salary capped at 80k, though? In my city cops can make around 100k a year through overtime and contract work- but they're working 50 hour weeks. I guess if there is no violent crime it's not such a bad deal, but there's always the risk of death, no matter how safe you think it is.

So are you in police academy now, or just trying to get your foot in the door?

My current job probably has just as high if not a higher risk of death anyway.

Just trying to get my foot in the door atm, and i can turn it into a career if i decide police isnt the way for me anyway.
