But seriously, if the other guy is reppin a big hand, and the board pairs, you need to think about what he might actually have played that way, rather than going

It's mostly a case of assuming a people aren't still sitting on J10 with 3 others in the pot all betting relatively big considering the stage in the sng. The fault lies with giving people on $.1.50/3.50 18 man sng's too much credit.

Granted one was kings full of aces but that was early on and it was only a $1.50 18 man so whatevz.

Seriously though, I'm entering a poker tournament at my local casino tomorrow night, and it will be my first ever live poker tourney. Anything I should expect or keep a close eye on? I was thinking of having a couple of shots of vodka beforehand, but now I'm thinking I might just toke a few and see what happens.

It's £10 buy-in, top prize is usually £1.4 -1.8k. Looking forward to it, as the casino holds other poker nights on friday/saturday where buy-ins are like £30

i wouldn't do either if it were my first live tourny, perhaps drink a little as time passes and I get more comfortable in the live setting.

played a bit live in Portland over the weekend.  They have weird poker rules at the card clubs - all the employees are volunteers working for tips.  They can't technically have live cash games so they have 1 hour shootouts where you cash out/rebuy on the hour every hour.  Plus I couldn't find any decent action, so I ended up playing 1-2 n/l with a max $100 buy in.  That was their most expensive game o.O

That was so satisfying, the guy donked me earlier on with 84 and was trash talking about how I shouldn't have called him. Then for him to lose with pocket aces just made me jizz all over my keyboard, monitor and ceiling.

No I left it there as a monument to how awesome the game can be to prevent tilt in the future.

Pokerstars but I'm considering giving 888.com as it's supposed to be a bit easier player wise.

ipoker network is full of fish, it's got all the big betting sites on it, hence people just wander from the betting to the poker
