I'm pretty sure New Zealand will comfortably beat Argentina. Unless Argentina bring an incredibly good game and the All Blacks underestimate them and play as porly as they did in Cardiff in 2007 I can't see Argentina winning. Their running game doesn't match the All Blacks' and their kicking game has been sub par, it'll be a huge disaster if the All Blacks manage to lose - which they are inclined to do come World Cup finals time.
I think England will beat France. France has the ability to beat England though and to be honest I'd kind of like that. I have no love for France but England's game come the business end of the tournament becomes the most boring game of crawling up the field and milking penalties and I don't want to see that in the final.
It's hard to call on the Ireland vs Wales game but I think Ireland will probably take that one. Whoever wins I think they have the very real ability to take either France or England. I'd love to see one of them in the final 'cause they actually play entertaining rugby.
As for the Australia vs. South Africa game - impossible to call. South Africa has been more consistant but Australia has the ability to hit hard and they have won the considerable majority of their last meetings. From there, whether it's SA or Aus to take on NZ - again imposible to call. Both Australia and South Africa won their last meetings with the All Blacks. I think Australia are more likely to win over NZ if they manage to down the Springboks.
The media here still won't shut up about Dan Carter. It's kind of nice that there's this underlying swelling of support for Colin Slade who at 23 years of age and limited international experience has been tasked with filling a legend's shoes. While I don't think that Slade has the same cool-under-pressure attitude that Carter has, (which is cruicial given the circumstances,) he definitely has talent and would be the first choice first-five/flyhalf in many other international teams. It'd be nice to see him silence his critics and all those paniking NZers who have been wailing about the end times since Carter got injured.
