His impact as an innovator/visionary and driver of one of the biggest personal computing companies on the planet cannot be overstated. Just look at what happened to Apple when he left. And what happened when he came back. To say he didn't make a difference is to ignore facts. Those differences impacted the market and beyond well outside of Apple as others sought to catch up.
