Yeah that badge did a number on my K/D ratio also. I seemed to do much better doing the Jihad jeep tactic over running around throwing them over walls or whatever and detonating them.  And my K/D ratio is worse than yours, although I'm working on it.

I liked a open map, like Gulf of Oman (although a lot of people have success with this in karkand), played as MEC, and I'd grab a jeep, put a C4 on the front and back, and drive it towards the beach looking for enemy vehicles which were parked inside one of the beach bases. They're pretty vulnerable in those bases when capturing the flag, so 7 or 8 attacks like that should get you the badge.

It's not irresponsible, but it does carry some inherent risks, just like disharging a fire arm or going into a combat zone. You have a 4-7 second fuse, and I should've clarified, it's not three full seconds, but a count to three. You don't even sweep the secondary safety, nor think about grabbing the pin untill you ensure there are no obstructions that would hinder the nades entry. It would be stupid to not check and be stuck holding a grenade just waiting to go boom.

I'm 99% sure this method is, or was, in the SMCT (Soldiers Manual of Common Tasks) or the CTT (Common Task Test). Having lost my SMCT from basic sometime in the last 6 years, I can't provide a scan, and I'm having trouble fidning a quotable internet source. If I find my SMCT or a source I will post in this thread.

A note for the Explosive Badge. I would suggest being an engineer and using your AT Mines on a map like Karkand or Sharqi. I got 18-20 kills in one round just defending the warehouse from vehicles.

And having only thrown 2 grenades myself, I pulled the pin and let them go quick.
