They talk about wall street being evil... There isonly one investment bank left on Wall Street.

Most of them don't even know what they are protesting about, except to get rid of the corporations... Not gonna happen.

Every day that I walk from WTC to Wall Street, I see one of their signs saying

"Capitalism doesn't work, A job is a right"

Anyone show them what happened to countries that try communism?

I agree some corporate structure and views need to be changed, but they have no real idea what they want to achieve or how. If you ask two people standing next to each other there, why are they protesting? You'll get two drastically different answers.

If they want to make progress, they actually need to understand what the investment banks do, and actually have a common and achievable aim

In order to do that, some of them would've had to have taken a math course or something.

That's what I thought. I know GS is based in JC on my side of the bay.

That's a really silly thing to point out though. Wall St. is the place most identifiable to the whole global banking and finance construct. A protest in front in downtown JC doesn't have nearly the effect.

It's like pointing out to protesters in front of the Pentagon that 99% of the U.S. military isn't at the Pentagon.

Not at all actually. Most of wall street is now law firms, and a museum. It's like protesting against the army outside an nfl stadium cos they have a few troops there on match day.

Most of the protesters don't even know what is on wall street our what they're even doing. Take a walk down there and look at their signs

Wall Street symbolises corporate America. That's why they are protesting there.

You don't do that by sending out union thugs. That's just about the quickest way to turn people off. Unions have lower approval ratings than Obama

Oct. 5: Christian Blackfeather Ruiz, 19, from Bronx, New York, searches for a spot to camp among participants in the Occupy Wall Street Protest at Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan Wednesday in New York. "I am here for a global economy," said Ruiz. "We have people starving, it shouldn't come down to money." The protests started on Sept. 17 with a few dozen demonstrators who tried to pitch tents in front of the New York Stock Exchange and has since grown to hundreds.

Ruiz can go home, I guess...since we already have a global economy.

Obviously, it was a shot at the "mainstream" media...and it was pretty much on target.

And if you ask most of the left-leaning people on this forum, your statement would be agreed with whole-heartedly.

In DSt chat, 13/f posted a picture from the NYT that showed them editing and an article to shift the blame towards OWS protesters. I don't think they are getting any unfair coverage.

Mainstream media. I never understood that. Fox News dominates cable news. News Corp owns several big NY papers. Hell News Corp is one of the largest media companies in the world.

It seems the whole mainstream media thing is an example of the right playing victim.

Ironic that someone would complain about the right playing the victim card...

Aside from the NYT, show me a news group as committed to to left wing politics and thought as Newscorp is committed to right wing. I don't buy this 'it's us against the world' crap.

It's not playing the victim to call someone else out at playing the victim.

NBCUniversal
ABC News (component of Disney)
CBS Corporation
CNN, though improving
Viacom
Hearst Corporation
The Washington Post Company

That's just off the top of my head, filtered by the list in the link above, focused on "conglomerates." There's still NPR and others out there, as well.

I was referring to it being a favorite tactic of the left in most things, and now the right uses it from the media perspective and the left complains.

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.

lolz.
This has to be the most left-wing hipster shit I've ever heard in my life. These "protests" will blow over in a month or so and nothing will come from it.

Not exactly.

Fox does very well in cable, but in overall news viewership/content delivery? They're a fraction when you look at it from the left/right comparison. Which is sad, really, that one can even make that comparison with news services...
