4 post up went into that talk
Heh, I don't think that's the first time it happened. The last time, I think it was, I was bitching about not being able to set /, not \. Using my mouse left-handed pretty much precludes using WSAD because of the huge gap of nothingness to the left and the fact that the keyboard would stick out too far to the right if I centered myself between the devices.
I'll be open about this. I understand if people are confused about it. It was a head scratcher at LAN parties until people saw how I was using it, though people nearing their thirties seem to have an easier time "getting" it. Here's a visual explanation, and the last one I hope to give:
(I usually avoid enter for controls if there's text chat in-game)
My right hand can easily reach all groups within the orange loop. Since the primary controls are centered around the arrow keys, my wrist doesn't have to move significantly all that often. My lefty mouse hand can move into typing position on the left side of the keyboard as fast as a righty's mouse hand can move into position on the opposite side. I don't have to pull the board over. I understand that there are some keyboards that don't have very well placed arrow keys. I don't like using them when they're scrunched up into a + format or stuck right next to other keys, but nobody's forcing me to use those boards.
The number bar outside of the orange loop is barely used at all, weapons being mostly map to the mouse wheel, extra buttons, last-used and ][ toggle. Without that, it would be pretty terrible to rely upon.
So I think it's a pretty valid complaint that my whole style is thrown off whenever I have to switch keys around to compensate for unthoughtful programming. Ultimately, if a PC game can use keys like "\", "ins", "/", "'", ";" or "enter" for controls, then other PC games should be able to as well. I liken the frustration resulting from them not to some console games swapping movement and camera on the 360 controller.

Ugh, for some reason my stats never get saved. It is really pissing me off because I want to unlock the bigger mags/scopes. Is anyone else getting this?
I want to love this game but it keeps pushing me down, stepping on my balls, and calling me Sally.
I think everyone who plays this game is in a disturbing, unhealthy and extremely one sided relationship with it. Including myself.Stimey wrote:

This is not a sane game.
And my stats seem to be working better now. I still don't think they're there 100% of the time, but they are updating more often than not.
Properly depicting WWII then.Doctor Strangelove wrote:

Also switch the AVT to semi-auto and it's exactly like the SVT, which had been the best gun before everyone got the MKb42.
looks like they finally got it somewhat stabalized.
benn wrecking shit with the MP44 and AVT (only on semi though rofl)
