The accent obviously varies between different people, but not between different regions.
From my perspective, there's
- the educated accent - which is pretty close to straight english
- the typical accent
- the 'crocodile dundee' accent, which is an exaggerated version of typical
- the feral accent
- the wog accent - kind of italian-australian - not sure how 2nd and third generations can still have an accent, guess their communities are too closed.
There are differences between the states too.
Just in Adelaide theres a huge difference between Toorak Gardens and Elizabeth, for example.
The differences aren't wild as they are in the US or UK, but they're easily discernible.
