@Jennings: I have several friends with concealed weapons permits. They're all over 21. So what are you trying to say.

@Raimius: What's FFL? All I know is that I can legally own a handgun at 18 if a family member purchases it for me. I want to know if I can legally conceal carry it at 18.

Seriously, if you want to own a firearm, MUCH LESS try carrying one legally, you need to educate yourself.

Well I have my permit and I haven't caused any accidents. Apparently I'm not a driving hazard, so you're either misinformed or a dick.

California DMV statistics
"The crash rate for 16 to 19-year-olds is 2.7 times higher than drivers of all ages."

(16-19 = 2.7x the rate of 16-99)

in california?  CCW permits are notoriously hard to get in CA.  Unless they are law enforcement or some pretty important people, I'm calling BS.  The likelihood of you getting one is extremely low.

Well two of them are cops, the other two are gun shop owners, and 1 is a rent-a-cop.

RDX-FX, I guess nobody should get their license until they're around ~25 then huh? Ever think maybe some of them are dumb immature kids? IE.

Ah well that explains it.  But as far as you're concerned, you're not going to get one.

i'm going to angeles crest this weekend to shoot my buddy's AR.  He's got a sig sauer like the one I'm thinking of getting, so I'll test this weekend and see how it handles.

Well I'll be getting my guard card soon so I can work as an LP. I'll need a CCW for some of the jobs I might get .

Loss Prevention in stores like Home Depot, Sears, etc. You can watch a camera and try to catch people stealing or actually walk around the store and try to find 'em. At places like Sears you have to call a mall cop to arrest the person, but at Home Depot you can tackle the person if you have to and wait for the cops to arrive, as opposed to say, "Follow me robber, ok sit here while I call the cops."

oh no, they aren't going to give you a CCW for loss prevention, dude.  I'd even go so far as saying they wouldn't even let you carry a gun.

Why wouldn't they let me, assuming I was 21? It's not like I'm a pyscho or anything, I'm good with guns, and I'm responsible, got no crimes on record either.

Anyways, I wasn't talking about LP for a CCW but if you get a guard card you can get a CCW.

Cus they don't want someone who isn't even a proper security guard, going round potential shooting petty thieves or innocent bystanders. That's worse for business than stopping a few people helping themselves to stuff.

Would places even hire some kid off the street with no experience to do loss prevention anyway? IIRC Shifty doesn't exactly look the part of any sort of security guard (maybe he could man a booth somewhere) since I think he still weighs even less than me.

fucking hell

companies like Sears and Home Depot don't let loss prevention employees or any employees carry a firearm, it well actually get your ass fired

they hire out to rent-a-cops that have been trained and have a massive insurance policy and the weapons they carry are issued from the company they work for

I worked part time as security that was divided between several bars/clubs and I would walk people to their vehicles ............ now-a-days I move money from businesses to the bank every weekday

Ok so I just spoke to a friend of mine in law enforcement and he says anybody can get a CCW if they have a valid reason.

SEREMAKER, I never ever said they would.

Also, I have no plans in carrying a gun unless I have a security job that would require one. I'm just curious. It's also 100% legal to open carry here in California.

what's your valid reason though?  usually it's along the lines of there's been documented threats on my life, i am a public figure in danger, I am a high profile person, i am a law enforcement official, etc.  18 year old shifty from the old folks home who like the sounds of guns in video games isn't going to cut it.  that's all im saying.

And open carry is just stupid.

ya honestly i wouldn't open carry unless i was some outdoorsman going on a back country hike or something. would just attract unneeded attention (especially in most of cali) and the odds of it being effective in a real situation are slim.

either CCW or leave ya guns at home.

I don't have one. Hence, I stated that I don't have a need for one unless I get a security job that would require a firearm. I am curious though because if I did manage to get that particular position, I want to know if an 18 year old can get a CCW.

Open carry is stupid in some ways yes, but if you cba to get a CCW as a security guard you can just open carry. Not that you'd need to conceal as a guard though.

Sere, I agree with you.

No shifty, you can't have guns on you. Good Citizens don't do that. Good Citizens don't question The One, because The One will make sure there is never any crime and so there will be no need for guns or any protection really.
